My urine smells exactly like finger nail polish remover

It's very pungent. Does this mean anything?

Dehydrated?

I don't think so. My urine is clear. I have been drinking a lot of water, yet going very infrequently.

In different bathrooms?

Are you sure it's your urine, and not discharge?

Could be ketones. Are you diabetic?

Maybe ketones in your urine? Does your breath smell fruity? Have you been very thirsty and urinating a lot? (possible signs of diabetes)

Have you been following a low carb or atkins type diet?

How much alcohol do you drink and have you changed your diet recently? Are you at risk for diabetes?

You may need to go to the doctors/ER.

OP here- I also have PCOS and recently had an A1C test done. My results were 5.8, which my doctor said was on the high end of "normal". I have been having some symptoms of diabetes. I'm going to be seeing an endocrinologist soon.

Also, I never drink alcohol. Diet hasn't changed much besides trying to eat less carbs.

Do you mean it smells like ammonia?

There are test strips you can buy over the counter to test for ketones in your urine. Do you have any other symptoms?

Do you eat a lot of asparagus? That can change the smell of your urine.

Acetate. Urine frequently smells like ammonia. Polish remover is acetate.

I had this once; it was alarming and luckily short-lived. Not sure what it means but I am not diabetic.
