Athletic Meets on the first day of school...

Apparently they did not changed the dates for the meets when they made school start later so now my kids have a cross country meet on the first day of school. Nice way to start High School for my freshman..

It's not like things start the 1 st day of school, this has nothing to do with the day school starts.

Yes the buses have to take the kids and then be back in time to pick up the regular school routes. They leave very early even if the meet is close by.

All athletes get early release for games. Yet, they still keep up with school work.

That is why scholar athletes are highly sought after by colleges.

Note: In Howard County they somehow manage to have enough buses that the athletes do not miss class..

Of all the things to get your panties knoted up about.... If it is so hard for your Freshman then your child shouldn't go to the meet.

It is not a choice kids should have to make..they already gave up 3 weeks of the summer for practices.

The first day is not a regular day...and it is always a pain to miss the same class in HS every time. I am guessing you have an 8 year old.
