Because he had played Santa at the Christmas party at the Ramseys house just a few days before and then after the murder he and his wife took off and went traveling through Spain and Portugal. And when he came back from Europe he started making his way on the tv circuit flying to New York. He was not a frail old man lying in bed. |

Even the lead detective Steve Thonas was aware of all the huge red flags with McReynolds- his own daughter and friend being kidnapped and assaulted Dec 26 many years before, his wife writing the creepy play about a girl being assaulted in a basement, their son who had served time in prison. McReynolds also told Thomas that another little boy who was "a special friend" had been murdered during his Santa years. And Thomas could not keep McReynolds off tv. So Thomas said he investigated him and concluded he didn't do it because of having had heart surgery five months before the murder, his alibi was that he was home sleeping. When someone recognized him as someone who frequented a local adult bookstore and Thomas asked him about this he said that not to worry his fantasies were about adults not children and the detective believed him. Thomas also said in his book that additional information that Santa shared with them that they were able to confirm further eliminated him. Of course this was never shared in the book.
Just because no dna or hair was not found does not eliminate someone. They could cover themselves up. The handwriting analysis is crap. Anyone of us could write that note in fifteen different hand writing samples. Just because they did not find the evidence does not mean he did not do it. He was the one that stuck out that was obsessed with JB and jealous of the Ramseys. He loved all the publicity and went seeking it. If people started looking his way too much then he would start saying how it was he who was being hounded. |

I have been sure Patsy was involved ever since it happened, but the A&E special made me question that. Specifically, because the two sets of rounds marks on JB's body do actually look like they were made by a taser gun (based upon the evidence they presented: the size of a taser, how taser marks look when made on a pig, how sometimes one side leaves a bigger mark, also the body they exhumed to study its taser marks).
I had believed the marks were more likely from the toy train tracks (which are also the identical size) but the sharp ends of train tracks wouldn't make marks like that. Of course, the A&E special completely left out any mention of the pineapple, which you could see written on one of the documents they showed. The pineapple contradicts the Ramsey's statement that upon returning home, John carried JB up to her bed and Patsy finished getting her ready for bed. Whichever theory you pick, there are pieces that don't fit. |
