I can tell you what they should havve done :

- embraced the teachings of the Bible they constantly thump - the ones about not casting stones unless one is free from sin and leaving judgement of other's behavior up to god

- not go on reality tv - their children had enough to deal with

- seek counseling from a licensed therapist

- reevaluate their lifestyle and parenting - was the isolation really helping their children or hurting them? Was continuing to have children the right choice when their time was already limited and their children clearly needed them to be more present?

I have always believed (and still do, this only solidifies my belief!!) that those who stand up high on their pedestals and preach this and that, esp. using the Lord as their back-up are truly the worst offenders.
