“The Nation, which indulges towards another a habitual hatred, or a habitual fondness, is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest…
So likewise, a passionate attachment of one Nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite Nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest, in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter, without adequate inducement or justification. It leads also to concessions to the favorite Nation of privileges denied to others, which is apt doubly to injure the Nation making the concessions; by unnecessarily parting with what ought to have been retained; and by exciting jealousy, ill-will, and a disposition to retaliate, in the parties from whom equal privileges are withheld. And it gives to ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens, (who devote themselves to the favorite nation,) facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country, without odium, sometimes even with popularity” George Washington, 1796, final address to the nation |
Brilliant leader who surrounded himself with great, forward thinking minds. |
Reject ceasefire, prolong war, exterminate Gaza. Easy peasy |
Not so easy now that trump wants to end the war and get the hostages back. Israel would rather level everyone in Gaza including their hostages |
I did not know George Washington was the first MAGA president. Thanks for posting that. |
NYT is reporting that Israeli military officials have concluded that Palestinians in Gaza face widespread starvation.
The fact that there are thousands of trucks of food lined up at the borders and it is not being allowed into a starving population is absolutely despicable. This is a shame on the entire world. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/13/world/middleeast/gaza-famine-starvation-israel.html?unlocked_article_code=1.HE8.I6RB.7X9-trjkPjgd&smid=url-share |
Isn’t the intentional starving of children considered a war crime? |
Yes it's one of innumerable war crimes that Israel is committing that resembles the Hunger Plan Nazis used as a means of genocide. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34907689/ |
So back to OP’s original question: how can we as Americans help the starving kids of Gaza? |
He was a slave owner |
Nothing. Stop thinking this is some democracy. Our country's politicians are controlled by elite donors that want Palestinians erased from this world. They will take away your employment, destroy your universities, take over all tax revenue to ensure their project in the Middle East lasts. |
I don’t know. Only thing I can think of doing is sharing this widely. And call your senators and rep and tell them that this is important and the usa cannot be complicit in such a blatant war crime. |
Remove the influence of money in American politics and remove the senseless hate for each from the Jews and Palestinians in the ME. This won't be easy. |
It’s the Northern part of Gaza with the starvation.
The Southern part of Gaza is fine thanks to food trucks from Egypt. however , it’s also the part of Gaza that’s bombed more since it’s densely populated with refugee camps. Israel is also rumored to use some new chemical bombs with mushroom clouds so they don’t want to use that in the North next to their country. Both sides of Gaza are a lose lose. How clever are they to starve the Gazans that are in the North within close distance of them. The human body can survive starvation but it doesn’t ever forget. Bad news for both Hamas and Israel. They have to work together to stay together. |
Sanctioning Israel may help because any other country withholding or destroying food aid would likely be sanctioned. However, according to our government and new laws passed, American citizens should be sanctioned for questioning Israel |
