Kamala: "We brought inflation down"

She's a walking Trump ad.

Inorder to bring inflation down you would need deflation. We haven't had deflation recently.

they brought down the rate of inflation which means prices are rising at a lower rate. It is now 2.9% which is getting closer to fed target of 2%.

Hmmmm,

Harris/Biden did not do a darn thing to bring down inflation!

Nothing! What did they do? What?

The person who brought down inflation was the Fed. By raising interest rates and cooling down the economy. The inflation rate, although better now, should have been even lower if Biden did not spend like crazy past few years and print and devalue the dollar. One example is printing $800 billion for the IRA that did NOT need to be spent at the time.

Even if the inflation rate now is 2-3%. The prices are Still rising!!!!! The prices are not going down and the previous years of 5-9% inflation are still priced into you cost of milk, eggs, wood, housing products.

For those who are actually interested in policy and economics, rather than reflexively slinging mud at their less preferred candidate, academics say that neither Trump nor Biden was really to blame for inflation.
https://www.cnbc.com/2024/07/11/high-inflation-is-largely-not-bidens-or-trumps-fault-economists-say.html
‘Neither Trump nor Biden is to blame’
Global events beyond Trump’s or Biden’s control wreaked havoc on supply and demand dynamics in the U.S. economy, fueling higher prices, economists said.

There were other factors, too.The Federal Reserve, which acts independently from the Oval Office, was slow to act to contain hot inflation, for example. Some Biden and Trump policies such as pandemic relief packages also likely played a role, as might have so-called greedflation.

Again and again,

There would have been inflation in the USA after Covid period! Supply chain issues and the pandemic were to blame.

But, Biden made it worse than it had to be by passing bills that pumped hundreds of billion DOLLARS into the economy that were printed out of thin air. That devalues the existing dollars in the economy and thus worsened inflation!!! Simple economics.

I remember Trump insisting on signing the checks.

Not that simple.

Trump had the Cares act in 2020 that dealt with the Covid shut downs and then in 2021 Biden has the American rescue plan which was a continuation of that. Both were needed to keep economy going.

After that the massive. Infrastructure bill that was signed by Biden for 1.2 Trillion ( 500 billion as to go into investments for the future) and the 800 billion IRA by Biden that was essentially a green energy bill did. It did not to be SPENT!!!!! That is 2 Trillion, TRILLION printed out of thin air. So yeah, the spending on these 2 bills ramped up inflation so much higher than it should have been, period.

Yes, I guess the country could have waited another two decades for that passage. After all Congress had been trying to pass an infrastructure bill since the 90's. Who needs clean water, safe roads, safe bridges, reliable energy, climate reducing methods, and high band internet for rural areas. Nah, just wait another two to three decades. NBD

Wrong timing. You don’t need to spend 1.2 trillion in the middle of a pandemic and when inflation is through the roof.

Hey, I want to buy a retirement house right now, but I got a kid in college now. When he graduates in 2 years, the. I’ll buy that house when the time so right.

So yeah, infrastructure is needed, but not in the middle of a pandemic recovery and raging inflation.

Apparently Trump did not share your opinion since he was working on a $1 Trillion infrastructure plan in June of 2020, during the Covid recovery period and in advance of the November 2020 elections, as a way of boosting the economy and jump-starting employment.

Anonymous wrote:As for Tim Walz, “sometimes my grammar is wrong” is a rich excuse for lying.

If Trump said that, it would be mocked

Not really. He's such a fire hose of obvious, demonstrable lies, there's no point.

He used IVF as a term instead of IUI because IVF is something most people have heard of whereas IUI isn't.
He attained a rank and served in that capacity for months, and then retired, at the rank below.

These are not "lies" and certainly not like any of Trump's thousands of obvious lies.

He had "Command Sargent Major" stamped on his Congressional challenge coin. That's stolen valor. He claimed to have "carried a weapon of war, in war". That's stolen valor, not bad grammar.

That isn't stolen valor. He achieved the rank and served in the rank, but retired a rung lower.

He did not achieve e9. He wasn’t promoted to e9 then demoted at retirement. He never went beyond e8. He is a gross liar. You are an enabler.

+1 funny how he embellished his military service but was much more modest about his DUI. I mean, 96 MPH while wasted is nothing to shake a stick at.

Wait, what? I had no idea about this. I can’t even imagine going 96 while sober, much less drunk! JFC.
DP

In fairness, he quit drinking after that DUI.

It's interesting how many of our leaders don't drink. Trump doesn't drink. Biden doesn't drink either. George W Bush too stopped drinking shortly after his DUI. It's almost like a job requirement.

Trump, Biden, and GWB are/were all relatively unpopular presidents with sub-par leadership skills so maybe a drink every now and then would have been good for them.

She isn't fit to lead, but you're right, she's better than the alternative. Democrats are just setting themselves up for a harder challenge in 4 years of she wins though.

First off seems like this didn’t in some cheesy diner . Might has well been a Waffle House. She didn’t look presidential, hunched over like some brooding teenage girl and she Was upstaged by a B rated reporter throwing her softballs.

She had over a month to prep for an interview and she failed . She didn’t produce one coherent policy plan. She has vocal fry and sounds like some teenager interviewing for a job at Taco Bell. “What are you going to do first day”? She’s been VP for four years she should have something of a coherent answer but also what a dumb question.

Creepy Coach Walz wasn’t better. When asked about his lies in regards to his service he came back with his wife said he’s bad at grammar.

I wish I could have the time I took watching the debate back. It was a waste and it showed she’s not fit to lead . But hey…you guy’s anointed her. No election, no primaries just installed this lady.

Jeez what a joke

She stumbled out of the gate and never got better. After the first question about day #1 she scratched her lip like some weird nervous poker tell. There will be no more interviews from here on out. I’m not even sure there will be a debate.

I doubt she'll get any kind of a bounce in the polls out of this. She was certainly better in her DNC speech.
She just didn't seem like herself at all -- and that was under the most favorable possible conditions.
It must be difficult repressing your own style to obey your handlers - luckily it was only 18 minutes and edited.

It was NOT only 18 minutes. I watched the whole thing and it was longer than that, including commercials. Stop spreading lies.

Meant to say...not including commercials.

Don't waste your time. All those bots know are lies, lies, and more lies. I wonder how much money they get per lie. It must be a lot because they spew as many lies as their lord and master.

Agreed. I was happy that she at least asked several “tough” questions about the border and inflation - and reminded Harris that the past four years she seems so eager to “move forward” from were the Biden-Harris administration…

But you’re right about Bash’s barely disguised fury while interviewing Vance. She knows what Democrats expect of her.

She came into the Vance interview with stacks of receipts trying to fact check him in real time. She interrupted he on every answer. And had a scowl on her face the entire time. She acted like a real . . . journalist. Where was that person yesterday?

When do they ever release full transcripts of TV interviews?

I saw the interview. It was uneventful, which is a win for Harris-Walz.

I see a lot of misinformation and snark from maga republicans online. They are going much harder on her than they allow on Trump. Trump seems resentful and belligerent and rude in his interviews (like at the Black journalist conf) or he just ignores reality and lies. Punctuated by weird segues about wind, birds and hannibal lector.

Harris (and Walz's small bit) both did much better than any of Trump's ridiculous interviews. Harris and Walz were sane and empathetic.

I think Walz was not needed and actually a distraction.

He had the biggest gaffe of the whole interview with the grammar comment immediately headlined by CNN.

She needs more confidence if she wants to be POTUS. She should’ve handled that interview alone

I wonder just how many edits they had to make. I also wonder if she had an earpiece on or if she was reading because she kept looking down.

All it did was take away a talking point about not doing interviews with the media. However, the line "my values haven't changed" was not the best way of explaining her change in policy positions.

The grammar comment was very unfortunate and not a good explanation. It's particularly bad because he was a widely-recognized English teacher in China.

A better explanation would have been that Walz routinely trained with weapons of war - like any soldier, sailor, airman, marine, or guardian. He could even have cited the types of "weapons of war" he trained with, how often, and perhaps even any marksman medals he earned (if any).

Somehow that bad grammar found itself on his Congressional challenge coin a decade later. Hmmmm

It’s concerning that CNN allows a lady to moderate a presidential debate if her husband tried to discredit damming evidence of one of the participants that was 100% true.
