They just issued a mandatory evacuation for Ocracoke visitors |
Ocrakoke won't even exist in a few years as climate change will relentlessly flood all of America's coastlines. Good thing we've got a congress and president too ignorant and or greedy for personal gain to care
|
| We are scheduled to go to Avon this weekend. No mandatory evacuation there so trip insurance doesn't cover. Not sure what we will do. |
| If my original post was weather related I would agree with you but this was caused by a construction company cutting the main underwater power line at Bonner Bridge. |
There may be by then. Check outerbanks voice and listen to beach 104 online. |
| Trip insurance appears to only cover evacuations related to natural disaster. |
Depends on policy and rental company |
| If houses have no a/c do you have to pay? |
Depends on what your rental agreemnet is or your insurance policy is. I know rental companies are trying to place people in vacant homes elsewhere. |
| There is a law in NC that requires rentals to have air conditioning. No power, no AC. This is awful. They have waited so long for this bridge. If the Mid-Currituck bridge goes through, I hope this is taken into consideration for Corolla. |
They actually moved the line so this wouldn't happen. |
I was the pp who is going this weekend. We rented through Outer Beaches and the trip insurance through them only covers evacuations due to natural disasters. |
Have you reached out to them? You may want to try now. I believe most rental companies have their emergency teams in office trying to sort everyone out. |

My trip insurance covers if the rental is uninhabitable, and list a bunch of explanations for what that means.
Read the fine print of your policy, because you may be covered. |
