My guess is that Russians are stirring both the the Houthi and Palestinian pots to keep "the West" occupied and funnel Ukraine aid away as a distraction. I doubt it will impact the way the Kremlin thinks it will, because it won't fix this:
"The amount of assets that can be easily liquidated under Russia's National Wellbeing Fund fell from 8.9 trillion rubles, or $100.4 billion, to 5 trillion rubles [about USD$55B] in the two years from January 2022 — the month before the invasion — to December 2023" "the national wealth fund's total holdings tumbled 12% over the same period" https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/russia-has-burned-through-almost-half-of-the-liquid-reserves-in-its-national-wealth-fund-as-it-bleeds-money-amid-the-war-in-ukraine/ar-AA1n9SdM?ocid=social-peregrine Why is Russia's National Wealth Fund important? "Support was also provided from the NWF to Russian banks, making the NWF a “lender of last resort” to banks" "One of the fund's main responsibilities is to support the Russian pension system, and since the closure of the Reserve Fund also funds budget deficits." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_National_Wealth_Fund 41.8 million pensioners are paid an average of 19,300 roubles (USD$236); or 806 billion roubles (about USD$8.9 billion) annually, and remember that there are currently only about 55B in the kitty. Although that, superficially seems like Russia can hold out for another six years, since half the fund was burned in only two years, the economists see a different trajectory. "the fund's liquid assets will be sufficient for a maximum of two more years." https://newsrnd.com/news/2024-01-19-russia-is-burning-its-money-in-the-ukraine-war---sovereign-wealth-funds-will-remain-liquid-for-another-two-years.rkbBzAhvt6.html "the National Wealth Fund (NWF) has no more euros in its accounts" “The proceeds were credited to ... the federal budget in order to finance its deficit. As a result of these conversion operations, a zero balance was formed on the euro account in the Bank of Russia.” "Currently, the Fund has only rubles, gold and yuan." https://www.aa.com.tr/en/economy/russian-national-wealth-fund-has-no-more-euros-in-its-accounts/3111705 What does this mean? Basically the Yuan is the de facto secondary currency of Russia. But isn't that a great deal for China? Not especially, since China also needs western currency to keep it's economy afloat, and now there's a competing source of Yuan on currency exchanges. Of course, Russia is part of BRICS and has been off-loading oil on India and China. Russia still needs Saudi Arabia to join, so it can dump loads of worthless Roubles in exchange for Saudi petrodollars. "Saudi Arabia Still Considering BRICS Membership" "The bloc also invited UAE, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia and Argentina." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZnlIAwSujE "Moscow respects Argentina's decision not to join BRICS" https://tass.com/politics/1734785 Without Saudi Arabia to offload some of it's sinking currency to, Russia should be able to let China absorb some of its economy woes, which I'm sure will make Xi even more popular with the bankers. More cracks starting to show... opposition protests growing inside Russia.
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/1/17/protest-turns-violent-as-activist-jailed-in-russias-bashkortostan |
Well clearly the government doesn’t think so or they would stop that war |
|
The idiot Zelensky is attacking by Trump!
Cannot wait to hand the keys over to Putin. |
It’s fascinating to watch Russia slowly crack up (again). This is nothing like but very reminiscent in flavor of the late 80s/early 90s. |
When you say "hand the keys over to Putin", I'm not sure what you mean? The only thing Putin is doing is sealing the fate of Russia as a Nation-State. For example, one of the most foolish things that the Russian government is doing right now is trying to bring foreign nations into the Ukrainian conflict. "the Russian Defence Ministry said on Wednesday that its forces had killed more than 60 foreign mercenaries, mostly French citizens, in a strike on a building in Kharkiv. It did not provide evidence to back the assertion." https://www.yahoo.com/news/russian-parliament-ask-french-counterpart-074853092.html "Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree allocating funds for the search, registration and legal protection of foreign properties owned by Russia, including property dating back to the Soviet Union and the Russian Empire." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/putin-orders-retrieval-of-former-soviet-assets-abroad-raising-fears-of-reunification-of-empire/ar-BB1gXyqr It's difficult to fathom the Kremlin strategy on this one, unless this is some type of byzantine strategy as a 'pretense' to start a wider conflict and generate fear prior to the Russian and US elections? The Kremlin doesn't even seem to realize these types of actions only embolden revolutionary and subversive elements within Russian allies and within Russia? "The deputy head of the FSB’s Border Guard Service’s logistics department was assassinated by Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC) fighters" https://english.nv.ua/nation/rvc-killed-russian-lt-col-in-another-cross-border-raid-on-bryansk-oblast-50367369.html "Russian propagandists claimed that a Ural military truck belonging to the Russian Defense Ministry had fallen into an "ambush of a hostile sabotage and reconnaissance group" in the Suzemsky district of Bryansk Oblast, resulting in casualties." “The enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group attacked the truck and immediately retreated," "The RVC confirmed this information" "The slogan of the operation was 'the special military operation is going according to plan,'" https://www.yahoo.com/news/russian-volunteer-corps-destroyed-russian-150400600.html Klintsy, Bryansk Oblast, Russia, a 7 1/2 hour drive to Moscow. “We're screwed, Lyuda! Do you get that?" "No, Vika, don't say that!” “Nothing’s happening. Everything is passing by us for now. Don't worry. Don't freak out” https://www.yahoo.com/news/terrified-russians-conversation-oil-depot-152100884.html "Russia's elite paratroopers and marines are refusing orders to launch 'human wave attacks,'" https://news.yahoo.com/russias-elite-paratroopers-marines-refusing-111750155.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall "thousands protest in the republic of Bashkortostan and thousands freeze as pipes malfunction in the Russian winter" https://www.yahoo.com/news/ukraine-latest-thousands-protest-inside-165343929.html "The Estonian Defense Ministry said in a release on Friday that Estonia and the other Baltic countries—Latvia and Lithuania—would soon begin "building anti-mobility defensive installations on the borders with Russia and Belarus"" https://www.newsweek.com/russias-neighbors-are-building-series-bunkers-1862423 "We say that the Republic of Belarus is open to military cooperation with any state,” “We are ready to resume pragmatic dialogue… Despite the actions of the governments of various countries, Belarus does not consider any nation as an enemy." https://www.yahoo.com/news/minsk-supposedly-ready-cooperate-nato-171100200.html Why the sudden change? Probably because one wants to be the patsy used to start WWIII. "Russia ally Belarus has amended its military doctrine to permit the use of nuclear weapons for the first time" https://news.yahoo.com/russia-ally-belarus-permit-nuclear-090509569.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall No, my friend, Russia is dying from within, and your feeble pleas are just prolonging the pain and suffering. The true nature of the Russian government is clear for all the World to see, and nothing you say nor do will change this. I'm curious, so please tell me. Do you feel anger? Sorrow? How does it feel when Russian citizens fight back against the Russian Government's ruthless incarcerations and assassinations? Do you feel proud you support rapists and murderers? Do you feel joy at slaughter? Do you brag to friends how Russia is great? Or do you weep in your vodka shotglass at night to help you sleep? How do you feel inside? I really want to know. I'm curious what type of person you are to support Putin. |

Svoloch Zelensky in Davos with his beggars cup.
No Zelensky! Go beg from your oligarchs. |
Yeah right Vlad. He needs money to end this needless immoral war that Putin started. It is in the free world’s interest to help them stop Russia continue its assault on international laws and western democracies. Most American people support aid for an Ukraine but extremist MAGA nutters in the House are holding up funds . Zelensky is doing what he can to defeat the monster that has ravaged their country and innocent civilians all while gas lighting and slandering them. |
Zelensky is the useful idiot for Lockheed. |

🤣 - President Joe Biden’s top aides bluntly told lawmakers in a private meeting on Wednesday that if Congress fails to authorize additional military aid for Ukraine in the coming days, Russia could win the war in a matter of weeks — months at best, according to two people familiar with the meeting. - Ukraine will run out of certain air defense and artillery capabilities in the coming weeks |
They will say anything to get that aid It’s not as bad for Ukraine as they say and not as good for Russia The slow bleed will continue in 2024 Sad |

It"s serious business these days. The Republicans are aligned with Russia and are refusing to extend desperately needed ammo to Ukrainians. The North Koreans are aligned with Russia and ARE shipping millions of rounds of ammo to the Russians so they keep fighting as Ukraine runs out of weapons and ammunition. Iran is aligned with Russia, and to distract the world from Russian imperialism they have used their proxy armies - Hamas, Houthis, Hezbollah - to create dangerous chaos in the Middle East that will draw away western attention from Ukraine.
It really would be easier and better for American and western security if Republicans would stop being infantile and traitorous agents of Russia. I can not imagine the Republican Party of Reagan, both Bushes, Romney and McCain conducting international affairs like this, But this is the party of Trump and we all know he is Putin's lackey and in debt to the oligarchs who have rescued him and time again. We are now in a situation where a couple of dozen goobers from the Freedom Caucus are going to be allowed to throw Ukraine and the security of Europe under the bus. It's pathetic. And will weaken America's reputation and standing for decades. |
