In general, Sidwell and the Cathedral schools (Beauvoir, St. Albans/NCS) and one other are cited as the Big 3 except that the third school varies between Potomac, Maret, GDS, and others.

That does seem to be the case. Perhaps we should start calling it the "Big 5" and avoid the constant bickering over that 3rd spot. "Big 5" sounds better anyway.
