I have never had my bikini area waxed or a Brazilian wax. How does this actually work? My nail salon offers this.... so do you walk in the back, take off your pants and she works around your panties? How do they actually access the pubic hair that grows near one's anus? Do they move your underwear to the side and just see what God gave you?
Do you wear a thong or something? Do you lay face up or face down? Or both (flip during)? I wish my gynecologist provided this service, that kind of naked I know how to do. |

Are you SERIOUS? Where did you grow up?
|
| Obviously in a cold climate, like me. OP, go to someone reputable and hygienic. If they do it every day, they really won't care what you look like, and will not make you feel uncomfortable. Enjoy the post brazilian (until it's time for the next one...)! |
| Don't get it at your nail salon, go to a real salon. They will give you a pair of disposable panties that you put on while they leave the room (for a regular bikini wax not brazilian). You just lay on your back on a table covered with wax paper and they move your legs around, may ask you to lift your pelvis a few times depending how thorough they are (i.e. the anal area), waxers vary in how thorough they are. Sometimes they do move the panties around a little but it's really no big deal. |
| Take aspirin or ibuprofen one hour ahead for the pain. |
New poster here. I find this response extraordinary. I grew up in Montgomery County, and it was not a part of my upbringing for Mom to instruct me on how a bikini wax transpired. In fact, at 45 I have absolutely no idea how it is carried out, and read the responses after yours with a great deal of curiousity. I'd like to thank you, OP, for your question, because I was curious as well, but wasn't brave enough to ask. Ignore this ridiculous poster, who probably grew up in a sewer. |
LOL, OP here. No offense taken. Yes I am serious. I grew up in New England and went to Catholic school all my life. Then I got married. I always believed in being the real me, if you know what I mean. But now (yes I will out myself, I am the poster who has been asking for dating advice) I'm single and I hear this is what all the ladies do now-a-days. It's a generational thing. I am thinking about it... I am not really very shy about nudity with service providers (like the ladies at the bra store who have to lift and tuck as they help you, or the mammogram lady, whoa nelly) but doing contortions while I get my A-hole waxed is a whole new level of intimacy. In twenty years even my spouse wasn't allowed to get a good look down THAT far. |
I actually found this post informative - thanks for posting OP. I grew up in a very conservative and sheltered household so the concept of waxing "down there" was a bizarre concept. So, this was a helpful post. |

Go to Elizabeth Arden, ask for Farooz, it is pricey, but it is the gentlest waxing around. Get a regular bikini, DO NOT START with a Brazilian...you are not doing porn, for Pete's sake. The change will be too abrupt.
Trim your pubic hair, if it is too long. Trim it not just on the sides, but everywhere, so it is about half inch long. The less to pull, the shorter the pain. Whatever you do, do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOt NOT go to your nail salon. Good luck. |
| OK, to get specific - is there a term for a bikini wax plus anal area wax? I don't want my labia waxed; and I'll keep a landing strip. Do I have to get this technical or is there a term for this, like "I'd like a Mohawk, please". Thanks. |
| DO get a brazilian, which refers more to the A-area and everything underneith/inside and it sounds like you do want that. Just make sure that "for show" you have more than a tiny landing strip. Have them leave more of a little natural v shape. But what they leave is all for show. EVERYTHING down below will be gone, and you absolutely want that and so will DH. Go for it! Your DH will be in heaven! But I agree, don't do it at your nail salon. |
| PP here, sorry I didn't see last post. The "mohawk" is referred to as a landing strip. It sounds like you know what you want so just describe that exactly when you go to get it done. |

Read some reviews here... Some of them explain clearly how the process works. http://www.yelp.com/biz/polished-washington

| I would not start with a brazilian wax. Aside from the pain factor, i can be uncomfortable once the hair starts growing back (it itches). I agree with the 856 poster, go to a reputable salon, not your nail salon. Also, avoid getting this done right before your period, you will be more sensitive and it will hurt more. |
| DON"T get it done. At least not until men subject themselves to the same sort of bizarre self-mutilation. |
