Please don't encourage them. Somehow Trevor made them angry so they have this horrible hatred towards the school. Trevor has its pros and cons. They go overboard on the cons. Top kids there do very well. Overall outcomes don't compare to TT, but a top kid has a very good chance at an Ivy. And will have four less stressful years of HS. One can better argue about the benefits of the lower school program but it is still not as bad as this person makes it out to be.

At least with the B parent we know the main reasons they do not like B. we might disagree on whether or not it's systemic there - but at least we have some context and some actual facts about the school.

It’s matriculation and scores are terrible for the price. Especially when great publics are next door on the UWS and UES. There’s simply no justification for it.

The top kids don't do that well. A top 10% student at a TT is going to an Ivy or Ivy equivalent. You cannot say that about Trevor, not even close. Regarding stress, it depends. TT students are smarter so they rise to the occasion of more difficult work. Trevor students are dumber, and can struggle to master watered down curricula.

It looks like there are plenty of kids from Trevor going to Ivys and other good schools.

Define "plenty." A handful do. Its matriculation is worse than a good suburban public like Scarsdale, which is free, and certainly worse than the better public high schools in the city like BS or Stuy. The ROI of Trevor's 1mm price tag is........bad

scarsedale has very high property taxes is my understanding. it's not "free" to go there. It is a good school nobody is saying it's not.

BS or Stuy - those are great schools - but you have to get in them first of all. plus you have to want to be around a certain demographics and also be okay with 30 kids per class. some people don't want that.

Not racism. Just the truth. those schools have lots of immigrants (smart ones!) and is super stressful and competitive. We are Asian. We grew up with immigrant parents. We worked hard (by choice and force). We wouldn't want our kids to have that same experience as us.

And frankly either would our parents. they realized the mistake and the potential toll undo pressure could put on kids.

STUY/BS are amazing schools. It's just not for us. We would most definitely put our kids in Trevor instead of those schools. Now G&T (the old version not the version today) - that was a solid choice for k-8. We did that and were very happy.

and for many people it's not $1mm. it's $300 to 500k depending on whether they start in MS or HS.

our DD BFF will attend there in HS after doing MS/ES in public. They are happy.

what are other 2T schools and what do you consider TT?

CGPS exmissions are better than Trevor i believe. From this year, Trevor has about 35% to elite or T30 type schools. CGPS has almost 50%

She's not a rocket scientist but she's not an idiot.

She's someone who did great in public school but doesn't want to go to a specialized school. Wants to have a nice high school experience. Not shooting for an elite college, a top 50 school would be a great outcome.

Small class sizes, more interesting curriculum, better lunch, the list goes on and on.

and for many people it's not $1mm. it's $300 to 500k depending on whether they start in MS or HS.

our DD BFF will attend there in HS after doing MS/ES in public. They are happy.

She's someone who did great in public school but doesn't want to go to a specialized school. Wants to have a nice high school experience. Not shooting for an elite college, a top 50 school would be a great outcome.

Everyone knows those schools are pretty bad. At least unis and avenues serve a particular market niche and Columbia has some history behind it. All are 3T

CGPS exmissions are better than Trevor i believe. From this year, Trevor has about 35% to elite or T30 type schools. CGPS has almost 50%
