Too much immigration. Yes immigration is necessary but it needs to be controlled

Too much off shoring with too few incentives to train American workers and keep jobs here

Inheritance tax needs to be more robust and close many loopholes for the uber wealthy.

More Progressive tax rates

That is a GOP thing. They created it, they own the businesses and do most of the hiring and yet you blame the Dems.

Pp. Where did I say I blame the Dem?

It’s both parties. You think Dem don’t run businesses? Huh?

I would vote for a Dem over the current state of republicans, but it is naive to think they aren’t part of the problem.

GOP created and negotiated NAFTA
most of the companies that sent manufacturing oversees are owned by republicans
most of the companies that do the hiring domestically are owned by republicans

But Both Sides!!!!1

You should be banned for peddling in inaccuracies

NAFTA had to have bi partisan support to be passed. It was signed by Clinton.

I’m not just talking about manufacturing. Let’s move into some modern day realities. Technology. Major co are owned by stockholders, not Rep or Dem. It does not matter what your personal beliefs are, if you are running one of these companies, you will make pro business decisions to increase stockholder value. That’s the reality

it was signed by Clinton, but it started during the Reagan administration. Clinton merely signed the document after it had all been designed and negotiated.

Most stock holders are republicans. Yes, there are democrats who own stocks, but let's be reality here about which party controls most of the businesses and most of the money.

You are extremely naive.
The truth is that the super wealthy aren’t loyal republicans or democrats. They don’t have enough votes to affect things one way or another so they buy influence of whoever is in power. They will support whichever candidate they think will make them richer. They don’t care about the issues that the masses care about. They are opportunists and will take advantage of whichever way the tide is turning.

And also, do you think it is only rich people who own stocks? Ever heard of a 401k? What do you think is in those?

+1

And, thanks to the rise of Super PACs in recent years, those super wealthy entities are able to somewhat mask the fact that there are mega-donors donating to both sides in a political race to cover their bases no matter who wins.

Disgusting

The super wealthy are on a bender to unwind the government and reinstate a system that favors them and steals from the population, with Trump leading the way. So far, starting with DOGE, they’ve successfully executed various schemes to make this happen. The“war” with Iran and spat with the Pope are just the most recent schemes to further throw the country out of balance, financially and culturally. MAGA just laps it up because they think there’s something in it for them.

And there isn't. The plan is for MAGA to become just as impoverished as they plan for the rest of us, they just don't realize it yet.

If we don't have access to health care or well paying jobs, they can pay all of us, middle class and below, poverty wages and rake in even more cash.

Hello?

Health Care IS impoverishing us.

Stop whining about gas prices. HC and its inflation over the past decade is orders of magnitude more expensive.

DP. And MAGA tried to abolish the ACA! AOC was also blasting RFK about this this week in the viral photos. We have a fraud suit against UHC and just raised Medicare payment payouts for them. AOC has been saying this in hearing after hearing for a year. But, the lobbyist are deep in mainly vote GOP.

MAGA and the GOP have been standing in the way of universal healthcare which has numerous examples around the world to show us how it can be effective and cost-efficient. All we need to do is pick one of those models that worked and replicate it here. But we can't because the oligarchs making money off of healthcare won't let their GOP servants let that happen.

These systems require a much flatter (less progressive) tax system. Are you willing to give on that point?

They do not actually REQUIRE a less progressive tax system. You’re just saying that they do.

As of Saturday, April 25 2026,
Trump has done 1,921 of 2,922 days (2 terms).
There are now only 999 days left in Trump's final term.
In the homestretch!!
We will survive, we will soon pick up the pieces of our democracy and rejoice in rebuilding.

I would say that the civil war was the last time the US was ‘completely’ broken. But the right side came through.

This country is broken now for sure, but I like to think of it as like a broken bone, when it eventually heals it comes back stronger.

That’s often how it goes. Look how 9/11 “healed” divisions. People rally to a certain kind of common patriotic cause.

I mean, I’m not going anywhere.

It’s just not cool to demonize entire races and creeds and ethnic origins of people, somehow too many stupids believe that “might means right”

If that were true, my cousin with a whole room for his dozens of guns and cases of ammunition would be setting the trend instead of having to retire early because he has no more workers to help do the labor for his landscaping business. I mean, he’s 65 and as fat as a squirrel with a tub of peanut butter. He’s not doing that labor.

He tried to reach me through one of my adult kids last year. I’m the “millionaire” in the family. That dude righteously hated my dad, because his dad and my dad hated one another, but he never reached out to me once before he had financial troubles.

His Jesus folk can bail him out

Part of the problem- the people responsible for the civil war and watergate were never fully held to account, thus paving the way for where we are now.

The mail still comes every day, we have 400 TV channels and internet.

We are definitely currently under an administration that mimics the 70s commercials with gorillas handling people's personal luggage, cretins and neatherthals and the guys that thought that doing keg stands are cool that don't understand that underwear doesn't make that great of a hat

But we're still here.

I just once believed in progress, not cycles, and I have been proven wrong.

Your cycle isn’t going back far enough. It’s the gilded ages if we’re lucky, 250 years if we’re not.

I think it’s absolutely foolish to joke that we still have mail (which they’re trying to abolish) and a bevy of tv choices when they are being consolidated and many people may not afford it soon.

Take nothing for granted, including clean air and water, when you next vote.

DP...
You mean trying to get people who are living paycheck to paycheck who have nothing left to contribute to pay more? But not a penny more in taxes from those who are the ones who have profited the most from our broken system? Nope, not giving on that point.

Also contrary to whatever liars like Grover Norquist and others might want to claim, "taxing the rich" isn't some modern, progressive, loony-left wing scheme. One of the greatest thinkers of our Founding Fathers - Thomas Paine advocated for wealth taxes (10% tax on inherited property) and progressive tax rates for large estates. And, he intended for the taxes to go toward universal social benefits, like pensions, support for people with disabilities - things the right wing hates.

Read for yourself - Paine wrote about it in his works like Agrarian Justice (1797) etc.

Yesterday the University of Pittsburgh (@PittTweet) posted a notice of intent to hire an H-1B scientist to research cardiothoracic surgery

Salary: $62,232

Was no American qualified for this position? Or was no American expert on cardiothoracic surgery willing to work for 62k?

And democrats, the party of labor, are suing the federal government to keep providing an unlimited quantity of h1bs to universities.

You’re asking why a surgeon won’t take a shitty-@ss salary? My 21-yo white DS makes more than that. Would you be happy if that goes to a POC American? I have to wonder.

the only reason they can do this is because of huge supply of desperate foreign labor provided by Democrats.

Learning about logic, hyperbole, and disinformation is patriotic. You should try it!

Pretty sure you don't know what "invasion" means.

We are basically living the 1870-1928 USA all over again, and 1929 will likely hit later this year or next.
