America is just completely broken

People who say shit like this should just leave. Seriously, go already. It's showing over and over again that dual citizenship and America are incompatible.

It's only incompatible because the US now sucks.

I would love to "just leave" but we have family here, not to mention millions tied up in investment accounts.

Do you even realize how out of touch you are?

That is a GOP thing. They created it, they own the businesses and do most of the hiring and yet you blame the Dems.

Pp. Where did I say I blame the Dem?

It’s both parties. You think Dem don’t run businesses? Huh?

I would vote for a Dem over the current state of republicans, but it is naive to think they aren’t part of the problem.

GOP created and negotiated NAFTA

NAFTA had to have bi partisan support to be passed. It was signed by Clinton.

I’m not just talking about manufacturing. Let’s move into some modern day realities. Technology. Major co are owned by stockholders, not Rep or Dem. It does not matter what your personal beliefs are, if you are running one of these companies, you will make pro business decisions to increase stockholder value. That’s the reality

it was signed by Clinton, but it started during the Reagan administration. Clinton merely signed the document after it had all been designed and negotiated.

Most stock holders are republicans. Yes, there are democrats who own stocks, but let's be reality here about which party controls most of the businesses and most of the money.

You are extremely naive.
The truth is that the super wealthy aren’t loyal republicans or democrats. They don’t have enough votes to affect things one way or another so they buy influence of whoever is in power. They will support whichever candidate they think will make them richer. They don’t care about the issues that the masses care about. They are opportunists and will take advantage of whichever way the tide is turning.

And also, do you think it is only rich people who own stocks? Ever heard of a 401k? What do you think is in those?

+1

And, thanks to the rise of Super PACs in recent years, those super wealthy entities are able to somewhat mask the fact that there are mega-donors donating to both sides in a political race to cover their bases no matter who wins.

Disgusting

The super wealthy are on a bender to unwind the government and reinstate a system that favors them and steals from the population, with Trump leading the way. So far, starting with DOGE, they’ve successfully executed various schemes to make this happen. The“war” with Iran and spat with the Pope are just the most recent schemes to further throw the country out of balance, financially and culturally. MAGA just laps it up because they think there’s something in it for them.

And there isn't. The plan is for MAGA to become just as impoverished as they plan for the rest of us, they just don't realize it yet.

If we don't have access to health care or well paying jobs, they can pay all of us, middle class and below, poverty wages and rake in even more cash.

Hello?

Health Care IS impoverishing us.

Stop whining about gas prices. HC and its inflation over the past decade is orders of magnitude more expensive.

It started with Gingrich and the "contract with America" that was a laundry list of gaslighing bullet points. Newt entered the Congress into a binary "win/lose" on every issue rather than compromise and hit led the pattern for where we are today.

I think it’s an age thing. iMO it started with Reagan when he said that the private sector could do things more efficiently thanks government (we’ve tested this time and time again and it’s a failed premise). My Dad thinks it started in the 60s with the government lying about how we were winning in Vietnam.

137 years ago today in 1889, the Oklahoma Land Rush took place. 50,000 people gathered in Oklahoma, they fired off a cannon and people ran in all directions to stake their claim to land (on horses and in horse drawn carriages also). It got pretty violent also with people shooting at each other over parcels.

What does this have to do with anything?

No idea.

Things like what happened in Oklahoma in 1889 are a regular occurrence down here in Vanceboro. In all serious; all we need to do is get rid of these God awful GOP and Dem Parties and then we'll be able to right the ship quickly.

In order to even start down that road we'd need a Supreme Court that could overturn Citizens United. Do you see Republican and Democratic presidents as equally likely to appoint such justices?

The NYT Daily did an episode on this which is worth a listen. The numbers are a bit distorted because one of their changes is to hold kids back in 3rd grade if they aren’t reading at a certain level. This means their 4th grade class (when the schools are eval on reading) are all the way readers and the bad readers (the ones kept back) have an extra year of even more personalized instruction.

I’m not saying their approach is bad but it does mean that reading has not necessarily improved that much for all kids who are in the same age bucket.

We need reform of the court. We need a D President/House/Senate who will either add justices or term limits or both. And also subject SC members to ethics rules and a process for elimination of violated. And no more shadow docket.

When Bannon describes collapsing the "administrative state" so something better can rise from it, this is what he was talking about. That "administration" is what protects everyday people from the excesses of the billionaire class. So, this is a total Leopards Eating Faces Party thing.

DP. And MAGA tried to abolish the ACA! AOC was also blasting RFK about this this week in the viral photos. We have a fraud suit against UHC and just raised Medicare payment payouts for them. AOC has been saying this in hearing after hearing for a year. But, the lobbyist are deep in mainly vote GOP.

MAGA and the GOP have been standing in the way of universal healthcare which has numerous examples around the world to show us how it can be effective and cost-efficient. All we need to do is pick one of those models that worked and replicate it here. But we can't because the oligarchs making money off of healthcare won't let their GOP servants let that happen.

People like Thiel, the Ellisons and others would be content to let the world burn and let billions of humans die if they thought it would make themselves richer and more powerful. They don't care about regular people. The see us as dispensable, able to be replaced with robots and AI.

The administrative state is falling apart. They have been pretty successful. There is no going back to the previous time. The only question is will we have an America that prioritizes citizens or prioritizes oligarchs and business?
