He "trapped" her in a pregnancy.

Anonymous
My friend is blaming a guy for her pregnancy stating he didn't pull out in time and wanted to get her pregnant.

They were using the pull out method and she insists it's reliable for her.

How is it possible that he trapped her?

Every aspect of this is just too stupid to think about.

I don't know about your friend's particular situation but reproductive coercion is a definite thing that happens in abusive relationships.

Why did she even tell him she was pregnant instead of breaking up and dealing with the pregnancy as she saw fit?

And pull out method can be pretty evfdective if the guy actually pulls out.

Reproductive coercion, for sure, but also, if your partner wants to get pregnant/get you pregnant and you don't want to, take charge of your own contraception.

Very possible. DH and I have used the pull out method for nearly ten years successfully. He slipped up once and I did get pregnant, but I was okay with it. However I also know he really wanted a baby and he's kind of admitted to doing it on purpose. Your friend could have also tried using the morning after pill.

She had unprotected sex. It's her fault.

This is so silly. These people had unprotected sex. It's time to terminate or own your choices.

I don't necessarily agree that birth control falls to the women. But control over my body falls on me. If I want to make sure I don't get pregnant and I'm having sex, I take the necessary precautions. This isn't something to rely on someone else for.

Men don't want kids? Wear a condom.
Women don't want kids? Pills, IUDs, NuvaRing, female condoms, male condoms, morning after, abortion.

Your body is your body, regardless of gender. Take the proper precautions to control the outcome.

Pull-out method is extremely risky. For one, it's very easy for a guy to get caught up in it and misjudge when he should pull out, and then boom, oops. It's also possible that he dribbles before he shoots, and if he masturbated or had sex recently, there could be live sperm still there that get swept up with the pre-ejaculate. Sperm can live a few days. There are so many potential things that can go wrong.

If you don't want to get pregnant, use another birth control method (the pill, condoms, diaphragm, whatever).

Not to mention, the morning-after pill is readily available and abortion is still legal, so I find the "trapped in a pregnancy" argument pretty weak.

My college roommate during Senior year in college was dating a real Southern Bell from $$$.

They "slipped up" and she ended up pregnant. After more than a couple of beers, he admitted to me that he nutted in her on purpose and was hoping that she would get pregnant. Long story short is that they were married shortly after graduation and is still married 15 years later.

He is the CFO for the family business (construction) and lives a great lifestyle. I think that it is more likely that a woman traps a great catch by betting pregnant but it certainly works both ways. He referred to it by the way as a winning lottery ticket.
