Lafayette was told to cancel their K celebrations, per Dr. B's orders.
How disheartening for the parents who planned and put their hard work into the end of the year celebrations. We are thinking of doing an end of the year party for the kids after school hours. Remcommendations for NW places kids can go? Are you K'ers allowed to have parties? How is it received by admin? This is so frustrating. We really tried with Dr. B this year.. |
| Doesn't Lafayette have a parent listserv? |
I was just starting to type the same thing. This is nothing of interest to anyone outside of that group. |
| Another thread about the Lafayette principal... |
|
1) There is no Lafayette parent list-serv - can you imagine the insanity?
2) My kindergartner's class isn't planning a big party. The teacher organized something, and requested 3 volunteers, but that's it - no large amount of parent work and planning. Is this post another attempt to whip up a frenzy? |

Why does there need to be an "end of year" celebration anyway?
I'm liking this principal more and more. |
|
We're at another school. We do not have k celebrations.
What exactly were you planning, OP? |
| We are at another Ward 4 Deal/Wilson feeder, and have a kindergartner. No such K-wide celebration over here (although my kid's teacher is doing something small within the classroom that she herself recently planned). |
| Between the LES principal DCUM posts and the black woman getting arrested for having a party in Chevy Chase incident last weekend, I'm ready to nominate Chevy Chase folk as the worst of DC. |

Pre k has a promotion ceremony. K does not. Is that what the parents were planning?
|
WTH? |
| She won't even let the teachers hand out a certificate. |
|
Why do Kindergartners need a promotion ceremony?
This is why everyone loathes millenials and lawnmower parenting. Graduating Kindergarten does NOT make you special, snowflake. |
| Our teacher planned a short 20 minute celebration for outside to hand out certificates and we got an email today saying it had been cancelled. |
Why would they hand out a certificate? It's kindergarten, not high school. |
