LES cancels K celebration..

Anonymous
She never has had any problems before with parties. Birthday, halloween, etc.
It seems like she is out to get certain teachers who went out of their way to plan a special day for their students,

It's sad that she came in the day of, an hour before, to cancel the celebration.

You don't know the backstory here.

And one, half-day end of year party is plenty. School isn't over yet. The teachers should have planned lessons.

We have one side of the story here. Let's not forget that.

Our school has class parties for every grade. It's up to the teachers how parents help out--they let them know the need. The children love it. For many, the end of the year brings excitement and sadness. A celebration of the journey they traveled with their friends and teacher/s is merited.

THANK YOU +1

I agree. Whats the difference between having it during the day or right after school? Does it give her that much gratification to tick us off and just inconvenience the teachers plan and hard work, just to have it moved to after school hours? My child's teacher spends enough time at school. It's a time for us to say thank you to her, all of her hard work, and give her her hard earned gifts.

Aren't the kids having a party day already next week? Why do these K classes need 2? And certificates?

That party is with all of the other 6 K classes. It's not personal for this kids in any way shape or form.

Maybe the teacher is sick of dealing with the parents and can't handle the thought of another party and is blaming the principal.

Instruction has been over for some time. My 1st grader has alternated days of watching movies and playing outside for at least the last week. I'm not complaining (at least about the playing outside), but to cancel this party because it interferes with instruction is ludicrous.

Wait, so this is an event for parents and their 125 kids? Holy crap. That's not a quick 20 minute photo outside. Certainly something this large should have gotten buy-in from the admin.

At this time of year there are a million other things going on during the day -- 5th graduation is two days away, there are probably staff meetings, library packing, other classes have their own events. The custodial staff may be overstretched etc.

How did these teachers not run this by the front office?

Does it ever occur to anyone that there may be a legit practical reason for this? Like there was something else scheduled in the school at the same time that would have conflicted? Running a school of 750 kids requires a ton of planning.

Personally I'd sue if my kindergarteneresume were denied his or her God given right to bring home a crown. No end of the year crown for a 5-year-old? Really??? That's child abuse, plain & simple.

As a working parent I'm glad it was cancelled. How many times should we be expected to take off work?! I suppose if you are a stay at home parent this is cute/fun. But for the rest of us it feels shi--y to not be able to attend when other kids have parents there. Our kids don't understand why we have to work but other parents can make it to the 10 events this month.
