Biden’s economy

Given that Trump's single economy strategy is more tariffs, which will make inflation even worse, what is the solution?

Trump also wants to cut interest rates, which will do wonders for inflation

Gee, I wonder if oil executives are keeping oil prices high to hurt Biden?

I wonder if the same has been done with the 10 major food producing companies in the US?

I blame both Trump and Biden but more angry at Biden. If you know better you should do better. Trump is expected to fail Biden is not as he's running on the platform of knowing better as he and everyone voting for him would suggest.

He has been copying Trump on immigration and tariffs and so many other things. You know what? At least Trump has his own ideas and I despise him. Horrible ideas that are dumb but ideas nevertheless. From a guy like Biden you are damn right I expect better. Starting with having his own ideas would be a really good sign!

Biden managed to get the infrastructure bill (remember the 'infrastructure week" jokes throughout the Trump years?) CHIPS and other meaningful bills through the Congress. Just that and aid for Ukraine is enough to get my vote. Add to it appointing pro-choice judges and you know, not being a narcissist is a bonus.

When ALL of Trump's former cabinet and aids say they are not voting for Trump, that he is a threat to the republic, people should listen to them.

They both suck. I hope the torch gets passed this summer. I know it’s not likely but I am still going to hope.

He flip flops too

In this case, it is china absorbing the pain for the very targeted tariffs being proposed.

Steel, EVs and solar panels?

The right is going to get upset about that?

$2.1 TRILLION of excess savings have been wiped out of the US economy since August 2021. From March 2020 until August 2021, $2.1 trillion in excess savings were built up after $4 trillion of stimulus.

Since then, US households have depleted these savings at a pace of ~$70 billion per month down to a -$72 billion in March 2024.

At the same time, US credit card debt has risen by $330 billion to a record $1.1 trillion.

Meanwhile, savings rates in the US declined from 3.5% in February to 3.2% in March, the lowest since November 2022.

Savings are now considered a luxury.

Maybe people should be saving more rather than spending. Bootstraps and all, right?

….as basic food and gas prices are skyrocketing. You exist in an elite little bubble, PP.

Then why aren’t people cutting back? If gas is so expensive why do you sit in your car and just idle while waiting? Why all the food waste?

People are cutting back...

How do Trump and the GOP plan to address any of this? Please enlighten what their plans to improve people's lives economically.

Biden had his turn. The inflation reduction act led to skyrocketing inflation that democrats insist isn't a problem. Am I supposed to trust the group with their heads in the sand to fix it?

The IRA kept inflation where it is. It is far worse everywhere else in the world. What would the GOP plan for inflation be? And please don't suggest fiscal restraint, because that has not been a hallmark of the GOP since the 1950's.

Yes, I shouldn't suggest restraint because neither party exercises it. I should just go along to get along and drive off a cliff because YOU don't understand basic math and economics. It's OK that we're selling future generations into slavery and hardship as long as you get yours.

I have no idea what Trump’s plan is, I was just responding to your statement. It’s simply untrue to say people are not cutting back.

You think people are buying less stuff? There is this thing called real GDP per capita which tells a different story. In aggregate people are buying more stuff than ever before.

They're also buying it on credit and their savings. You want to convince me this is a good thing?

Yes, meaningful as in create more dollars put of thin air because you "declare" every pet project you want as a crisis, devalue the dollar by doing so and causing more inflation as it spreads thru the economy BY CONSTANTLY DEVALUING THE DOLLAR THRU MONEY CREATION.

You are just brilliant!!

People also are buying stuff because they know prices are going to keep going up and up due to inflation! Jerome Powell admitted that inflation is not going away anytime soon. People already know this. Better to buy now than in 4 months when the price goes even higher.

Cites for inflation being much worse elsewhere in the world? Pretty please. Someone keeps saying this but while there has been inflation it's had varying levels in various countries at various times.

Inflation spiked under Biden. Hard to deny that no matter how you want to spin it. And inflation is only getting *worse* going into the election. Ouch.
