Is Matt Gaetz the next in a long line of prominent republicans to be convicted of child sex abuse?

“Eric Herschmann, a former senior advisor to Trump, who told a House panel investigating Jan. 6 that Gaetz had requested a pardon “from the beginning of time up until today, for any and all things.”

It’s a normal ask when you’re a dirtbag and the GOP is going full fascist.

“Career prosecutors have recommended against charging Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) in a long-running sex-trafficking investigation — telling Justice Department superiors that a conviction is unlikely in part because of credibility questions with the two central witnesses, according to people familiar with the matter.”

Just par for the course. Like every other victim of sexual assault, harassment or similar misconduct....their stories are never believed.

This is a weird leak that wouldn't originate from DOJ. Almost as if a Gaetz-friendly source is leaking it to make any future prosecution look like it's politically motivated since it would require DOJ "superiors" to overrule the "career prosecutors."

Or the whole thing simply could be bogus to begin with.

Except that many things point to it not being bogus:
Gaetz asked for a blanket pardon
Joel Greenberg is cooperating with the Feds and has had his sentencing delayed multiple times.
And Greenberg's lawyer said this today

Greenberg's attorney Fritz Scheller reacts: “I have not received any information from the government regarding its decision to abandon its investigation and prosecution [of Matt Gaetz]. Nevertheless, based on my knowledge of the evidence, I would be surprised by such a decision.”

Aren’t y’all tired of all your allegations fizzling out when it comes to actual prosecution?

On the money. They’ve been doing this kind of thing from the start.

This, but OTOH, the story appeared in WaPo, and they generally are good about sources.

No, they’re just like everyone else. Sources familiar? It’s an unauthorized source, so there’s a good chance they are trying to push a narrative. I wouldn’t publish it.
