LMVSC town hall

Well I’m officially worried. These recent social media posts keep on and on of consistent message now: hey we’ll take any rec player to play travel, and please anybody come to tryouts.

We’ve been out of town for over a month now, is it bad? We don’t talk to our teammates that much, especially when I’m inquiring about the stability of our academy/squad. Even the rare videos they put up, I’ve counted players and it doesn’t look good.

PP you need to talk to your team. Things are very different depending on the age group.

My DD could probably find a better team skill wise, but she loves her coach and teammates and wants to stay. The team gets along well and so everyone is back. That’s not necessarily the case at other age groups, so there’s no substitute for checking in with teammates. Posting the age group here may or may not help depending who’s on line.

OP here, thank you for taking time to respond. We’re now in a club that’s predications success on an academy-style approach. Apparently, several age groups and genders are not meeting the necessities of an academy (enough able-ability players). I’m not going to check in with Coach, because coach may not be very forthcoming. I’d rather talk to team; however, if we say we’re worried it may cause people to jump ship (before we do).

was the past better than the present? if yes, what makes you think the future will be better than the present? what you’re seeing is a reflection of the current state, and, it’ll probably continue its trajectory. so if you’re going to “jump ship”, probably better to do so now than when there are less landing options

You sound ambitious, or at least a forward-thinking parent. It’s not just your age group. In totality, I don’t know what the outcome will be. I do, though, see what it currently is. If you’re worried, chances are you’re not the only one. When you get back in town, you will see what is occurring. In other words, your worries are warranted.

Smaller clubs will be crunched if participation drops off- LMVSC has a pretty minuscule geographic footprint and it borders SYC and Alexandria neither of whom seems to be having similar problems right now. Maybe if they would accept being smaller they'd be better off

it's only like one or two red teams that want to stay in CCL. everybody else would be more than okay being an NCSL-only club. costs less money, demands less driving. maybe they should think about all the kids on reduced-lunch program that would benefit without the drive all over virginia.

To quote Captain America: “No, I don’t think I will.”

There’s a thread about NCSL credit. There is a response for it as well:
“A 70% credit was applied to Fall 2020.”

Can somebody please explain to me why we’re paying CCL fees of: $1,500.00 per team (U16-19); $600.00 per team (U11-15); $600.00 per team (U9- U10).

There will be no fall sports and with HS moving everything to spring, good luck on getting access to those turf fields during the week. Is anyone still going to pay 2k+ a year for zoom calls so your club's DOC, TD, ED, or whatever else can continue to get paid?

Because, if we do end up playing, I’d rather not drive all over Virginia and Maryland just to get blown out. I’d rather my child enjoy playing, not losing most games by multiple goals. Look at our tournaments as a club. We are barely competitive in the lowest brackets, and that’s if we qualify for the actual tournament or showcase. Yet for some reason we’re going to pay a bunch of money to play CCL? There’s a reason why we are still constantly advertising for supplemental tryouts. We don’t have enough players... ever notice how we never show players on the field during these sessions? It’s because it’s embarrassing to them. Does the club leadership care? No. Because if we’re not in CCL, they cannot get paid as much.

Change teams then. You understand that you can do that right?

Typical. LMVSC doesn’t care about the environment for its players. The ONLY thing they care about is getting your money.

Btw how do I change teams when there’s only one team in the age group? Including the one above us.

Umm, you change the club. Pretty simple.

Yeah, instead of the club doing what’s right for its member, the members should leave. Tbh I think that’s a legit notion, and seeing just how many fewer players there have been I think I’m not the only one. I just don’t want to be the last.
