Wow, that really is amazing. My son applied, got in with a little merit but decided it was too far. And he got into a higher ranked school honors. But I think it was opportunity missed. That setting is breathtaking. What a place to go to college.

No, it’s not. It looks like an upscale residential neighborhood, with one giant mansion at its center. Little about it suggests it’s an institution of higher learning.

Agree, I don’t think it compares to the beauty of campuses like W&M, Princeton, West Point or Cornell in any way.

Have either of you been to Salve Regina? It is NOT in "an upscale residential neighborhood with one giant mansion at its center." In fact it is one of many giant mansions along the cliff walk in Newport, RI. Have you ever heard of the Newport mansions? Educate yourself before you start spewing misinformation.

Totally agree. If you have not seen Salve, you cannot imagine how gorgeous it is. Like Pepperdine but sail boats and mansions. It is stunning. Obviously it isn’t in a league academically with some other mentioned but has to be top 5 in beautiful campuses.

RI on the water is so pretty. I am secretly hoping my kid picks one of the New England schools on her list so we could go back more frequently

Those buildings sure are ugly. Take the water view out and it is a piece of crap campus.

We visited Northwestern last spring and there are some really beautiful parts of campus not shown in this image with the more traditional classic/Gothic architecture. It's an eclectic campus architecturally speaking but quite beautiful in sum.

Syracuse at #1? I think not. The building they show in the picture is the only attractive thing on that campus.

And Penn #2? I've seen all the Ivy League schools and, although it has some nice buildings, I would rate it near the bottom.

There are several of these that make it clear they only looked at photos of the nicest building on campus.

They give these projects to the interns.

So true. All three are more prestigious and much prettier than University of Maryland

Have you been to any private colleges???

I thought UVA was so average and Charlottesville seemed depressing. I went to school in Boston where the entire city is like a giant college town.

Stanford is beautiful. I thought USC was really pretty.

No. 1 - UVA. https://www.bestcollegereviews.org/features/most-beautiful-college-campuses/#:~:text=University%20of%20Virginia%20%E2%80%93%20Charlottesville%2C%20Virginia,-The%20University%20of&text=Jefferson's%20original%20vision%20still%20makes,inspiration%20from%20Rome's%20celebrated%20Pantheon.

The Lawn area is nice, but large areas of UVA are not distinguished in any way.

I really wonder if these people have been to many universities. DH went to Yale and I also thought New Haven and the Yale campus was a pretty awful place.

Architecturally, Yale is extraordinary and it is also beautiful. I'd say the best of the Ivy schools along with Princeton.

Within the Ivy League, I'd say

#1 - Yale/Princeton
#3 - Dartmouth
#4 - Cornell
#5 - Columbia
#6 - Harvard
#7 - Brown
#8 - Penn

There is a bit of a gap between 1-4 and 5-8.

I would put Harvard above Columbia and Cornell for sure.

No. Ithaca has too many beautiful places. Cornell is in the top few.

It must be because UVA is one of the most unattractive campuses I’ve ever seen. I just don’t get the love for that one. Good school, but definitely not a beautiful campus.
