They were soldiers not Marines. |
How Trumpers continue to claim a mantle of Christian virtue is beyond me. It's like they all read the Bible and conveniently skip the gospel. Is a Christianity without Christ still Christian? |
Because of Trumps actions (or lack of) the only people suffering are the family. Why is that so hard to understand. Trump should be preforming if thats what it takes to console the widow of a US soldier. You have no empathy for this gold-star family. Pathetic. |
DP. We really have no idea. It was probably an ISIS offshoot that ambushed them after a larger meeting. But why did one get separated/left behind? Did France know and help out, were they just in the area, were they just doing air missions in the area? And apparently we still don't know why they were there in the first place. Kelly said that he knows but won't tell. No one in Congress seems to know. |
I wonder if they'd rather have empathy or their son back. |
Trump supporters — how do you think Trump should close out this episode? Multiple people have suggested saying something like, I meant the best for the family, I understand it wasn’t perceived this way, perhaps I didn’t express myself well, but I wish the Johnson family the best and express my strongest condolences.”
What’s your message to Trump I’m putting this episode behind him? |
Exactly. And if nobody knows, how was Sgt. Johnson supposed to know what he signed up for? |

Interesting to listen to. This wife reacted differently. |
Do you not understand that "I'm sorry" in that context is the same as "I regret"? You're right - what would she be apologizing for? |
Clearly Trump did not say the same thing to the Johnson family. |
It's good that he can do the right thing, at least some of the time. |
Can a Trump supporter explain why he said he never said those things, but now his handlers are saying he did? |
He bumbles and bungles what he says all the time. IMO, his denial was him rejecting the way it was being characterized by the Congresswoman. She made it sound like he called the widow up to disrespect her and had bad intentions. I'm not making excuses. I'm saying what I think, based on what a sloppy and ineffective communicator he is. |
Thanks for posting, pp. It is a real shame this Congresswoman felt the need to go public with HER impression of his call. It was not her place nor was it appropriate. |
I think Schumer should tell Frederica Wilson to shut the hell up, get off the TV, and get on with doing her job. |
