Yes, the numbers in MS are still not great. But they are better. They are not really high performing. |
These systems require a much flatter (less progressive) tax system. Are you willing to give on that point? |

I live in the US.
The mail still comes every day, we have 400 TV channels and internet. We are definitely currently under an administration that mimics the 70s commercials with gorillas handling people's personal luggage, cretins and neatherthals and the guys that thought that doing keg stands are cool that don't understand that underwear doesn't make that great of a hat But we're still here. I just once believed in progress, not cycles, and I have been proven wrong. |
Haha, you've dated yourself with those references and I get every one of them too. I get what you're saying about this being a cycle, but there's one change that's just consistently downhill. The way I think about it is that there are social cultures that care about intellectual investment, and there are those that care about emotional investment. You can see it among our young people. Some care about excelling in school, others care about, I don't know, 'keeping it real' or 'fake it till you make it' or 'yolo'. Our culture is degrading. It's not just a cycle. |

Not completely broken.
I would say that the civil war was the last time the US was ‘completely’ broken. But the right side came through. This country is broken now for sure, but I like to think of it as like a broken bone, when it eventually heals it comes back stronger. That’s often how it goes. Look how 9/11 “healed” divisions. People rally to a certain kind of common patriotic cause. I mean, I’m not going anywhere. It’s just not cool to demonize entire races and creeds and ethnic origins of people, somehow too many stupids believe that “might means right” If that were true, my cousin with a whole room for his dozens of guns and cases of ammunition would be setting the trend instead of having to retire early because he has no more workers to help do the labor for his landscaping business. I mean, he’s 65 and as fat as a squirrel with a tub of peanut butter. He’s not doing that labor. He tried to reach me through one of my adult kids last year. I’m the “millionaire” in the family. That dude righteously hated my dad, because his dad and my dad hated one another, but he never reached out to me once before he had financial troubles. His Jesus folk can bail him out |
They do not actually REQUIRE a less progressive tax system. You’re just saying that they do. |

As of Saturday, April 25 2026,
Trump has done 1,921 of 2,922 days (2 terms). There are now only 999 days left in Trump's final term. In the homestretch!! We will survive, we will soon pick up the pieces of our democracy and rejoice in rebuilding. |
Part of the problem- the people responsible for the civil war and watergate were never fully held to account, thus paving the way for where we are now. |
Your cycle isn’t going back far enough. It’s the gilded ages if we’re lucky, 250 years if we’re not. I think it’s absolutely foolish to joke that we still have mail (which they’re trying to abolish) and a bevy of tv choices when they are being consolidated and many people may not afford it soon. Take nothing for granted, including clean air and water, when you next vote. |
DP... You mean trying to get people who are living paycheck to paycheck who have nothing left to contribute to pay more? But not a penny more in taxes from those who are the ones who have profited the most from our broken system? Nope, not giving on that point. Also contrary to whatever liars like Grover Norquist and others might want to claim, "taxing the rich" isn't some modern, progressive, loony-left wing scheme. One of the greatest thinkers of our Founding Fathers - Thomas Paine advocated for wealth taxes (10% tax on inherited property) and progressive tax rates for large estates. And, he intended for the taxes to go toward universal social benefits, like pensions, support for people with disabilities - things the right wing hates. Read for yourself - Paine wrote about it in his works like Agrarian Justice (1797) etc. |
| Any country that would make the movie about Michael Jackson a box office hit is broken. He was a child abuser, dumbasses! |
Pretty sure you don't know what "invasion" means. |
Approved for disability"? What does this mean? I see people in wheelchairs. |
