Totally agree. Anecdotally, I know several teams lost a lot of good players to graduation and that loss is compounded by a bunch of injuries. I’ve heard about more concussions this year than I can remember - it’s been bad. That combination plus more good players opting for private schools means (not surprisingly) subpar play. I’m hopeful that next season will be better. |
How does a team just bail on a game? That’s terrible. They will never be invited to anything again, |
As a big supporter of Virginia rec and public lax, I'm afraid I have to agree with this. Looking at comparative scores is always shaky, but let's look at this weekend. I would offer that Battlefield is clearly then 6A midseason #1. They are undefeated, beat Madison, look strong. A couple of weeks ago, they beat private PVI by 1. Good win right? Always impressive to beat a top 4 WCAC team. Well...maybe not. PVI just got blown out by Holy Child, the 5th best team in the ISL, and lost to St Stephens and St Agnes by a whopping 14 goals. This suggests that the relative strength between VHSL and local privates seems to have shifted significantly. These results are a far cry from a few years back when Oakton beat St. Stephens and St Agnes on their run to a state championship--and they weren't as dominant as Battlefield seems to be this year. In fact, they lost to Madison twice on their way to the state title. I really want this trend to shift back, but we are going to need to keep more talent at publics and rebuild the NVYLL if that is to happen. |
| I think the privates in area are very beatable especially after this year. I would put BF or Madison up against PVI SSSA BI and Potomac. |
PvI and BI are beatable but the public schools lack the depth to compete with SSSA, Potomac, or Stoneridge. If you took the top 8 from Madison and the top 8 from Battlefield, it could be a game. Battlefield kept up with Potomac in fall brawl (I know it is short field) but the point of comparison is it is only 7v7 |
This year SSSA would absolutely destroy any VA public school. |
SSSA has a lot of 26s. They go down hill after this year |
You are delusional |
Pretty sure that Madison plays Potomac in a week or two. I guess we'll find out. |
BF parents are high on their own supply |
And SSSA the same week. Kudos to Madison coaches for not shying away from tough competition, but Saints will beat them by 10. |
We will see next year when BF has all 4 on schedule plus Frreman and Western A |
SSSA's second string would beat any VA public school. |
Next year I will find you and laugh as 1st team gets beat by 2 public’s |
Ok. You realize we don't even know the teams for next year. You sound ridiculous thinking that any VA public school has SSSA's current talent/depth. I'm pro public school, but I'm not completely unaware of the difference. |
