Best coach in Maryland and it’s not even close…stop.
BL, CH, McD and Spalding are essentially NIL teams. He left because that money stopped for boys lacrosse. |
Bryan Kelly is pretty good as well. |
What do you base that on, mostly? |
+100. GP has money but McDonogh has a lot more. You don't need as many blue chip recruits to win in the IAC as you do in the MIAA. He had admissions slots at McDonogh. Will be interesting to see how Hilgy operates in a scaled back lacrosse conference. Maybe he negotiated with Prep he is guaranteed 1 - 2 slots an admissions class. All in in, a very good hire for Prep and will make the IAC a lot more competitive. |
Doesn't the IAC also limit you to four years of high school lacrosse? In other words, you have to sit out at Prep if you already played your freshman year somewhere else. I don't believe that most prep schools outside the IAC have this issue. |
the IAC is a very wacky conference with zero leadership. Its operates on handshakes between the current ADs at each school to uphold the league rules / standards. While I believe the league now has a neutral commissioner, its purely for "show". |
Yes, that's one of the few rules the IAC has. That and that you cannot compete in sports if you turn 19 before the school year starts. (But that rule has been waived in cases including for Mormon missions.) |
Will Speaks avoid playing Prep moving forward?
Hilgy doesn't duck anyone. |
A school doesn't make a hire like this to just compete locally. This has to be to dominate locally and compete on a National level.
Hilgartner has nothing left to prove at McD or in the MIAA. GP is almost certainly shelling out a lot of money. |
GP is looking less and less these days as a local Catholic school.
|
Anyone who knows the history understands the Admissions guy pushed to have the game dropped due to his godson attending SJ over Prep. Period |
Give Hilgy 2 seasons and he will have Prep dominating the DMV.
Within 4 years, he will have Prep in the National top 5. He wouldn’t have jumped ship to Prep if he wasn’t guaranteed admissions slots/ scholarships. He had a very good set-up at McDonogh, probably the best arrangement out of all the MIAA schools Prep is eyeing national aspirations and I guarantee you they are leaving the IAC on their own accord. |
Let's see how he does without the Millon bros. |
I don't think guarantee means what you think it means. |
Prep is dripping with cash from donors that could buy McDonough over and over. But sure, this McDonough school is big deal in those parts up north. |
