1. Did you get an interview yes/no?
2. When/Why did the weigh recommendations letter so heavily. Who graded these letter and how?
3. Should they reinstate the entrance exam?
4. They should use PARCC scores or other standardized tests.
5. Students should not be a part of the interview process.
6. What is the most fair and equitable process?

GPA, interview, essay would be my preference for admission. And stop advertising a 3.0 as a minimum when a 3.7 historically has been the minimum for an interview.

In different emails from SWW they told both that 3.0 and 3.7 was the cut-off. How can they not know?

They seem confused by their own standards and can't keep their story straight. The admissions process is a mess, and anything but transparent and fair.

There are two different cut offs - 3.0 is the minimum to apply. Once the applications are in, the cut off for who gets an interview is dependent on the top however many students they decide to interview, which in the past, has been a 3.7 or higher, but it is not an exact "cut off". They "don't know" because it depends on the application pool. I am not trying to argue that the admissions process is not a mess, or is transparent and fair, but just that this is one part that is fairly clear and does make some sense.

Thank you. Why it's necessary to have to hunt through an anonymous forum to get this information is beyond why. Why is SWW so opposed to transparency in the process? It's frustrating and suspicious at best.

Doubt you're going to get very far. This forum is filled with opinions and BS. They will fall back on the published rubric and say the other stuff(if available) is proprietary. At the end of the day, you may be even more frustrated....

Has anyone received an invite for this year? Interviews will take place this Saturday and next.

Nothing yet. 9pm Tuesday and interviews start this Saturday.

Same. My kid has a 4.0 and I am assuming good teacher recs, so expecting at least an interview

Yeah, that's why I was thinking. It doesn't seem like a lot of notice, but maybe others already received interview requests.

I wonder if they do this in rounds or all at once... This Saturday's crew get invites this week. Next weekend's crew get invites next week?

That is probably the case. But has anyone received an invitation yet? At this point, it's basically going to be a 72-hour notice or less. Unless, of course, some have already received the invitations. I wonder how many applied this year.

Last year emails went out the Tues before the first Saturday of interviews. Emails went out at the same time with interview invites and telling kids they were not invited to interview. The Tuesday email said you will do your interview either this Saturday or next. Then on Thursday, we received an email with the specific date and time of the interview.

Who knows how they’re doing it this year, but in case it’s helpful to hear how they did it last year…

That would mean they should have been sent today if they were to follow last year's schedule. Let's hope that we get something tomorrow.

Thank you. This is very helpful.

The teacher recommendation deadline was extended to February 14th this year, whereas last year it was in early February. If the school plans to review all applications submitted after the deadline, I expect notices to be sent out at least a day or two later. One of my DC’s recommendations was submitted on the 14th, so I’m hoping SWW committed to reviewing all applications and recommendations, which may be causing the delay.

It's possible. They still need to give people some notice, though. The interviews are in three days.

I’m confused about an earlier comment regarding emails. Do they email every applicant? Some are invited to interview.
And others are told that they won’t be interviewed?

That’s what happened last year. Some people were told they would not be getting interviews and others were given an interview time.

I’m guessing it will be tomorrow. They are probably just going to skip the step of telling people “you have an interview and we will tell you when in a few days” and go straight to telling people the time/date of interview, and based on last year as PP said, that would be Thursday.
