| The coupists want to make this go to the SCOTUS. They already have an agreement with SCOTUS to appointment someone. |
He already took over the Speaker’s office and has Trump stumping for him- how could he not win? 🤣 |
Good I do not these bozos doing anything. |
There is absolutely zero mechanism for this going to SCOTUS. |
Hard to say. If McCarthy folds after subjecting himself to six rounds of humiliation he reinforces the perception of his weakness and his speakership is damaged irreparably having already conceded to the demand that any one member can seek his removal. As for the FC, this is red meat for their constituency and they don’t honestly GAF what anyone else thinks of them. It seems pretty clear the FC wants an oversized voice on the Rules Committee and will continue to roll McCarthy at every opportunity just because they can. Gaetz won’t relent unless he gets handed the gavel for Armed Forces subcommittee. There are no winners in these scenarios. |
| What is the purpose of the veterans press conference? Their hero is the one holding up election of a speaker. Talk to Kevin and stop their ridiculous press conference. |
In the 1850s it took months. |
This is an internal matter of Congressional governance. There is no jurisdictional basis for a federal court to rule. |
The WhigvParty had largely collapsed and no party held a majority of seats. Also there were 21 memvers serking the speakership. In the end, it was decided to change the voting to award the speakership based on a plurality. |
Well, the super maggots, er, hyper MAGAs aren’t exactly up on the finer points of constitutionality |
| House Republicans need to go into a room and not come out until they have 218 votes for somebody. The number one job of party leaders in Congress is to make sure they have the votes before putting a question on the floor for a vote. Neither McCarthy nor Scalise have been that very good at that. |
Herding cats isn’t easy |

Kevin will get the votes. I would have preferred that he get them by coalescing with the left instead of the far-right, but miracles don't happen with this one. The negotiations are not good for the country, so all we can do is enjoy the spectacle now and hope nothing too terrible will be conceded behind closed doors. Perhaps this clown car will make people vote for Democrats in 2024... |

Hakeem Jeffries has now received more cumulative votes for Speaker of the House than Boehner, Hastert, Ryan, or Gingrich. He will pass Tip O'Neill's cumulative total in the next vote.

It's the job, though. |
