Have you checked out GT classrooms these days? There aren't any with only 25 kids. They are overcrowded in part because they are forced to accept a few kids who were initially rejected but whose parents appealed because their egos were bruised.

Can't wait to see what some of you people will do when your children are rejected by multiple colleges.

Nope. Nobody forces the Central Selection Committee of AAP.
Appeal process has been part of the formal process. The whole system and process was designed that way top to bottom for reasons.
Parents appeal for good reasons.
Overcrowded classroom issue is not just for GT classes. Regular classes have the same if not more of the issue almost everywhere in Fairfax county.

For colleges, just follow the established rules, regulations, and policies of the corresponding colleges. Just like following the rules regulations and policies by AAP in FCPS. Nothing is new. You need to work on your fact and logic.

The committee being tougher is just a rumor, but what is your kids' data?

I suspect that the "rumor" was posted by our resident troll. Look at the timing of the post. Just after several people slammed the troll. We know from experience that she can't help but put in the last word. This is her work. No way that a school AART is privy to the closed meetings of the appeals committee (composed of central office personnel, NOT school AARTs) and no way an AART would pass this kind of thing on to a parent. Definitely the troll trying to yank everyone's chain.

I seriously think the troll's kid did really poorly on WISC.
Can't imagine what the kid is going through under that kind of parent.

You should be fine. Mine got in with 147 FSIQ with GBRS 7 couple of years ago. Received very subjective GBRS score from second grade teacher. Both K and 1st grade teachers were very shocked that DC did not get in on first round.

Yes. The 3rd grade classes at Louise Archer have between 23 and 25 kids. My DD's has 23 kids. What happened was the enrollment increased from about 90 to 98 in the third grade AAP. At 98, they needed to add a 4th class, which resulted in 24 to 25 kids. As one child moved away, they are down to 23.

There is a maximum of 31 kids per class at the beginning of the year.

They meet initial minimum requirement for 'Profoundly Gifted' program.

There are plenty of kids who aren't accepted into the GT program who are extremely bright and will go on to have great academic careers in HS and beyond. But basically you guys are saying that parents who keep appealing until they get the answer they like. LOL.
