| Is it true that the parents are having the principal removed? We are a murch family looking to have our kids enroll in the fall, but we would like to know what's going on before we do... |
No. She isn't leaving. And parents can't 'have a principal removed.' |
| So much drama at that school! |
| Seriously. Seems to have attracted a vocal group of high maintenance parents. |
| These parents need to look into private schools, end of story. |
| Carol Broguard, is an exceptional principal that is laser focused on student achievement and not on pampering parents. The job of principal of Lafayette is a challenging job that this person is quite capable of handling. I would recommend any perspective parent to come by and see a wonderful student center school in action. |
Please tell me this isn't the actual principal posting in 2 Lafayette threads in the middle of the school day. |
I hope the actual principal can spell and write better than that. |
| Nope, the noisy detractors who spread rumors are a small minority at th school. |
Nope. Not the issue at all. And not all at Lafayette or living in NW can afford private school so they are stuck with the public options. The issues relate to transparency, honesty and integrity regarding the administration of the school. Yes, some parents come off as whining and really need a lesson in tact, but the underlying issues driving much of the discussion are incredibly important to not only the school, but the community of which the school is a major component. If neighborhood residents and parents are even casually aware and perceptive of the trends over the past few years, it is obvious why the division and distrust in the school, parent body and our beautiful community. Some are happy to ignore (willingfully or otherwise), while others have been damaged in the process and cannot ignore. I am sad to see the exodus of experienced and dedicated teachers and am resigned to have a school filled with young inexperienced teachers who leave once they wise up and have enough experience to get a new job elsewhere. This will be the new norm at Lafayette for the foreseeable future. If you have a complaint about that, I'm sure Dr. B will be glad to have a one-on-one conversation with you behind closed doors. |
You may want to check your sources. They are shockingly uninformed or willingfully ignorant. I suggest casting a wider net (say more than a handful of friends on the HSA) and see what you find. |

New, Inexperienced teachers?
Our sons K teacher is new to Lafayette, but not her first year teaching. She is, hands down, 100x's better than our daughters "older, experienced" teacher that she had in K. Our son is reading above grade level, excelling in math, and loving science. If these are the teachers Dr. B. is hiring, please, GIVE US MORE! |
Are you moving to the Lafayette school district or trying to get in through the lottery? Is this a "choice" you have about whether your kids go to Lafayette or stay at Murch? |
Not OP, but I assumed when I read it that PP is one of the many families redistricted to Lafayette, who were grandfathered into Murch. So yes, quite a lot of families have that choice. Lafayette is closer than UDC for these families (and has a playground and field). |

Must be hard to be this privileged.
You do understand that DCPS can give you an administrator that doesn't bow down, And can't be bought, right? |
