What sneakers are cool for a 8th grade boy?

Kid needs new sneakers. Would like to get him one pair of athletic shoes, for running, and another pair. Do boys wear converse? Other brands? Thanks.

I don't know how cool it all is, but most of the boys my son hangs out with wear Nike and Under Armour shoes. Some wear those skateboarding shoes. Like this.

My ds just had his 13th birthday party. I was actually noticing that every single pair of shoes in my hallway were Nike.

I can't believe how expensive they are now that they wear men sizes. My kids always point out the kids that have $200 nikes. We buy the shoes that are on sale.

haha no. the 'grails' for 8th graders are yeezys.

if you see any sneakerhead IG or reddit and the trendiest 8th graders, it is a lot of adidas ultraboost, nmd, and yeezys.

that said 8th graders in dc are behind the times compared to 8th graders in cali.

My DD has ASICS...they were on sale. She does not care. She is a good kid. (She does have a Yahama Saxaphone. That she cares about).

The question was about an 8th grade boy, not a female band geek.

The boys are aware of the yeezys, etc. but all wear nikes. DS has one friend who had the popular expensive sneakers and they were stolen.

I'm always fascinated by these clothing/shoe threads. My seventh grade DS in a Bethesda middle school could not care less what shoes or clothes he wears (he doesn't even care if they are clean!) - all he cares about is comfort. I know he's not in the "popular" crowd but he's mainstream and fits in just fine. For all the bashing of Bethesda on dcum, I really don't see snobby kids or more to the point none really notice or care what others are doing or wearing.
