Does Deputy Mayor Courtney Snowden have a Political Future now that it's public?

Does Deputy Mayor Snowden have a political future, now that it's public she received political favors that she personally benefited from?

Article from the WP:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-politics/second-mayoral-appointee-implicated-in-school-lottery-scandal/2017/05/10/17e72092-35b2-11e7-b373-418f6849a004_story.html?utm_term=.ec0651bbd545

The Deputy Mayor previously ran for office and lost. After a job working for a Member of Congress not from the DMV, she was a special interest lobbyist, was able to afford private school, and currently makes over $200K. She lives in Deanwood, but doesn't seem to really want to be part of the community. Also, not sure what in her background qualifies her to be an expert on economic development?

Do you think this scandal will be the end to her political career or just a continuation of the pay for play system we've had with a few of our mayors?

I think this will/should affect Bowser and Henderson much more and much sooner than it will Courtney Snowden. She's better off sticking with Sen. Baldwin than running for a D.C. office anyway.

And, just because I'm a stickler, she's in charge of "greater economic opportunity." The deputy mayor for economic development is Brian Kenner who appears to have a rock solid background in that field.

This is so DUMB!!! I can think of 50 issues in DC and this is not one of them. Every city does this. Go find a real issue like the Mayor's relationships with Developers!

God you people have nothing better to do.

What are the qualifications of someone in charge of "greater economic opportunity?"

Does Ms. Snowden have them?

I hope not.

She should resign in shame.

No she shouldn't. Get off your high horse and find a real issue. She wanted her kid to go to a good school and she works 24 hours a day for the city. Do you work for the city? Have you given up your life for the city. There is real corruption in DC. Get Brandon Todd indicted. Go after Ben Soto. That's a real story that is barely being covered.

Here's an alternative view: maybe if the people responsible for running our f*cked up public schools had to use the product they produce they would be less f*cked up.

Eat your own cooking.

Her self-serving explanation on FB for why she cheated other DC residents by getting her son into a coveted public school is laughable. She's an embarrassment without shame.

"First, let me thank you for the overwhelming out pouring of support. I love my boys, and being their mom has truly been the greatest honor of my life. Like every parent, I take the responsibility of raising my babies very seriously. You know that, if you don't know anything else about me.

Second, let me just clear up some facts. I went through the lottery, as every parent interested in a DC Public School placement does. To my knowledge, my baby was not matched to any school.

As is the right of any District parent, I petitioned DCPS to secure a discretionary placement, and I am grateful that Chancellor Henderson was able to assist in securing a seat at a school that fit my child's unique needs.

Some of you are aware of some of the challenges Malik experienced in his previous school, and I am so grateful that DCPS has such wonderfully diverse options to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.

Now, back to the work of expanding opportunity for every single District resident in all 8 wards."

"To my knowledge, my baby was not matched with any school." You know they're full of it when they pull out the "To my knowledge." Puuleeeeze. And "my baby?" Yes, Courtney, you must love your children more than the rest of us.

Well she is clearly doing a terrible job. Public service should't mean you get to cut in line and avail yourselves to resources no one else would get. She clearly has no shame.

Could this be a lawsuit for a "regular" family who was denied an opportunity with cause?

For example, we attend a dual-language title 1 school, but wanted our kid to attend Oyster (top ranked DCPS dual language school) because it offers better extracurricular and rigor.

All of the whiners and crybabies must be from elsewhere and just don't understand DC. It's perfectly natural that those with friends in high places get a little extra attention.
