Did you or do your kids go to school with children of a celebrity or famous person?

Obviously, you don't have to say what school but do your kids or did you attend school with children of famous people? How are play dates handled? I went to high school with "the beaver"'s son and he liked me but I wasn't into it. However, my mom always joked about me dating him so she could meet Jerry Mathers. Now, my son attends school with the son of a big athlete here in town and my husband is jokingly asking me if our son can ask famous athletes kid to play so he can have some tickets to play off games. Just curious if others have experiences.

Yup. Lots. In both high school and college. Some were suspicious. Some completely open and nonchalant about their stories. My absolute favorite was the son of a very recognizable mobster. Every other word was "dirtbag." He was fabulous!!

I never asked for anything but friendship, so that's what I got.

My kids go to school w/ an actor and a pro sports coach. The celebrity isn't around much. My son hasn't gone to his home but other playmates have. It's big. Coach is very very very nice, and treated regularly as the moms and children don't really know who he is. He comes around often.

Got a younger cousin who goes to the same school as the child of a porn star (least it looks like her anyway) - does that count?

In high school it was just politicians' kids. Not that exciting for this area. I went to college with a famous news anchor's child.

This was a Friends episode. Phoebe finds out that Sting's son is in Ben's class so she goes to see Sting's wife pretending to want to talk about Ben and Jack in order to get tickets to Sting's concert.

Yes, I went to school with Howard Stern's daughter (the oldest). We were friends and her parents just acted like regular parents.

They had this very long driveway and once I drove myself there. Then I was scared to back into the street because it was blind and Howard offered to come out and help me. He said he was too tall to fit in my tiny midget car and had me roll down the window while he yelled directions and I drove. He was just a regular dad-type.

And once Emily was having a party and everyone was hanging out in the basement. I went upstairs to the main floor of the house for something (bathroom? water? my jacket? I don't remember) and Mrs. Stern was just sitting on a couch with her feet up kind of in the dark. I said, "Oh, hi!" and thanked her for the party and assured her that the pool table wasn't scratched regardless of the screaming she may have heard earlier, and we talked for a couple of minutes. Years later my mother told me how she heard from Emily's mom that I was the most polite kid who ever came over. I was really sad when they got divorced.

I went to grade school in Chicago with the daughter of one of the Cubs players. I hung out at their house and it was just so decked out in Cubs gear, it was sort of funny. Rugs, lamps, you name it, had a Cubs symbol on it. They were nothing but a nice family.

I went to middle school with a Saudi princess. Her and her mom were in hiding (small town in rural western US). Someone (teacher? Counselor?) gave me the job of being her friend and helping her navigate school since she had started in the middle of the school year and I was one of maybe three non-white students at the school. She was only there for a semester before disappearing again. I never went to her house. She was nice enough, but aloof. Never met her mom.

I think a lot of celebrities send their kids to schools where other kids in the industry go. It's a tight knit community, much like the political powerhouse in DC.

A friend went to Brown with Emma Watson. Once in class Emma Watson answered a question correctly and someone shouted "ten points for Griffindor!"

Apparently Emma Watson did not find that funny.

Regis Philbin's daughter and I lived in the same dorm in college; we weren't friends, but my freshman year roommate hung out with her.

Also, a famous sportscaster's daughters also went to the same college. They had rhyming names, and unfortunately for me, my first name rhymed as well and my last name was one vowel off from theirs, so people confused me a lot with them over the phone.

Went to school with Kanye West. I recall that he was actually a very talented artist (painting and drawing)...rapped at some school assemblies.

In NYC here, and yes, there are children of celebrities at my child's school. They are no different from any other families.

I always notice a slight hesitation with them, and then an exhale when they're relieved that while you know who they are, you aren't going to pepper them with 40 questions about Dawson's Creek and a possible reunion, and what a shame it is that a guy as hot as Heath Ledger is dead.
