March for Truth- June 3, 2017

Anonymous
Hey all,

Let's make this bigger than the Women's March. Permits have been secured and here is the info:

Why are we marching?

We call for a #MarchForTruth to raise our voices and let our elected leaders know that American citizens want answers. The legitimacy of our democracy is more important than the interests of any party, or any President. So, we will rise together to call for a fair and impartial investigation, for the pursuit of truth, and for the restoration of faith in our electoral system and the Office of the Presidency.

Across the country, peaceful demonstrations will be arranged on Saturday, June 3rd. Our goals are simple:

1) Congressional investigations should be properly resourced and pursued free of partisan interests, or an independent investigation must be established;

2) As much information should be made available to the public as possible, and as soon as possible;

3) Donald Trump should release his tax returns to clarify his business interests and obligations to any foreign entity;

4) If crimes were committed or if collusion is discovered, it must be prosecuted.

I think these marches are a waste of time.

What matters is getting people to vote and if a fraction of the effort to organize these marches went into directing voter turnout it pay off a whole lot more than these futile marches.

Yes, liberals want to take control of the senate and house but marching is not the answer to that goal.

What we need is real leadership in the Democratic party - and that is currently woefully lacking and absolutely nothing is being done to rectify the situation. The face of the party today is Pelosi, Schumer and to a lesser extent Perez and they are not exactly inspiring.

We also need a platform that addresses the needs of white working class voters - you know the group that some liberals view with such disdain. We lost the election because they abandoned the party. Biden was probably one of the few who understood the aspirations of these voters but he is too old to assume a leadership role.

Who managed to get everything they wanted in spending bill-and nothing Trump wanted (no wall, no deportation force, PP funded) even if in the minority.
Yeah, very ineffective.

As for the rest, if you don't want to march, don't march.
But marchers have the same effect of "rallies" in terms of voter engagement and volunteer recruitment- they are useful even if not sufficient.

OMG. Another march? Another futile attempt at attention-getting?

Well, at least some of you are getting your FitBit steps in..............

Fierce partisanship dressed up as civic minded nonpartisanship. I see you, poseurs!

I love these marches. The signs are often funny and insightful and the people are great. If you don't want to go, don't.

I think these marches are putting pressure on politicians. They know we are paying attention and won't revoke things like funding for Planned Parenthood or keeping protections in healthcare for those with pre-existing conditions.

I've been a little reluctant to participate in marches, but I would definitely March for Truth. And FTR, I'm a scientist who is very engaged in policy discussions, but I feel like the March for Science was co-opted by those who think of science policy in terms of "science-as-special-interest".

Federal R&D funding cuts are so far down the list of things scientists, or anyone who cares about facts and evidence, should care about right now.

And I bring my kids, who like making signs and interacting with people. It's fun, people are nice and we exchange contacts and build networks with folks in other states (that have actual representatives to call!).
It's our new hobby on weekends, lol

And one more thing, sorry.

Anyone who says Democrats are "without a leader" sounds too much like DJT

" Donald J. Trump?Verified account
@realDonaldTrump
The Democrats, without a leader, have become the party of obstruction.They are only interested in themselves and not in what's best for U.S."
5:09 AM - 30 Apr 2017

WE are the leaders, not the DNC- they follow US.
That's how it should be- no personality cults (Obama, Sanders OR Trump).
