Resistance is vitally important. The marches have been working on Congress if not trump.

Marches for abstract concepts accomplish next to nothing.

I agree. I wish they had narrowed the focus of this march to something like a demand for an independent prosecutor to investigate Russia and Trump. 'Truth' is way too broad a concept, especially since truth is fungible to Republicans. It's great that people are being moved to action by this horrible administration, but we risk diluting the message if the message is too broad.

What matters is getting people to vote and if a fraction of the effort to organize these marches went into directing voter turnout it pay off a whole lot more than these futile marches.

Yes, liberals want to take control of the senate and house but marching is not the answer to that goal.

What we need is real leadership in the Democratic party - and that is currently woefully lacking and absolutely nothing is being done to rectify the situation. The face of the party today is Pelosi, Schumer and to a lesser extent Perez and they are not exactly inspiring.

We also need a platform that addresses the needs of white working class voters - you know the group that some liberals view with such disdain. We lost the election because they abandoned the party. Biden was probably one of the few who understood the aspirations of these voters but he is too old to assume a leadership role.

There's no reason Democrats and Independents and moderate Republicans can't band together and do both!

The marches do embarrass the POTUS, so they have an impact on his presidency, taking him down a notch. Sure, he can brag about how great he is, but it's difficult to completely ignore tens of thousands of protesters marching right outside his residence.

But you are absolutely right, Democrats must take over the house and senate in 2018. That's the only sure way to get rid of Trump.

I disagree that the Democrats are doing nothing, but they are not doing enough to fight Trump either. They are ineffectual, and Schumer, Pelosi and maybe Perez too MUST GO. We need much more dynamic leadership in the Democratic party, but the entrenched aforementioned Democrats won't budge, so their younger, energetic Democratic colleagues languish.

I couldn't agree more that Democrats have ignored the blue-collar workers who feel abandoned by the Democratic party, by Hillary Clinton in particular. Her "deplorables" remark told them everything they needed to know about her, so they voted against her. With good reason.

I like Schiff -- he's impressed me. We also need more women in congress. I'm so tired of only looking up to males. But Elizabeth Warren is not the right person to lead the party. Who is?

I thought the main idea was to protest against Trump not releasing his tax returns, especially relevant in light of his tax proposal, which probably will enrich him even further.

Exactly which politicians do you believe are paying attention to you?

None.

Odd how no one cared about truth or transparency from 2009-2016.

Hmm. Well we saw obamas tax returns, so he was transparent on that front.
And we saw the visitor logs...

Should I keep going?

You mean, the ATF program that Bush started, wherein hundreds of guns went across the border and became untrackable, only to turn up again in connection with violent crimes. Which was then continued by ATF field agents, with absolutely no evidence to back up the nutjob conspiracy theories that Holder/Obama ordered it despite all of you yammering on and on and on about it for years.

Sorry, but that one was busted years ago. You are so tired and irrelevant.

Pay attention. The marches have been extremely relevant and impactful. The evidence of that is plain to see in the budget deal that was made this weekend.

They put pressure on the GOP over things like Planned Parenthood funding with the Womens March. And guess what - the GOP dropped their plan to cut Planned Parenthood funding.

They put pressure on the GOP over ACA at the GOP town halls - and guess what? The GOP dropped their plans to gut key ACA provisions.

They put pressure on the GOP to protect EPA and science funding with the Science March and the Climate March - and guess what? The EPA's budget is not getting cut by the 31% Trump wanted, it's only being cut 1%.

The people have risen and they are speaking out and the Republicans are running scared.
