I sometimes feel seriously exhausted with all the work it takes for me to look half decent. DH insists I "look good" without makeup and in sweatpants but I don't feel that way. I get regular manicures and pedicures, facial hair removal, color my hair, keep my weight below a certain threshold, invest in a good wardrobe. On top of that I do skin treatments and have a good skincare regimen. I style my hair on a daily basis and wear makeup every single day day.
I wish I could be a low maintenance woman, but I don't believe I have the natural beauty to pull this off. I hate that I feel uncomfortable in jeans and a ponytail. Even when I am put together, it never feels good enough. |
|
I enjoy shopping so that's not a chore for me. For hair removal, if it could be lasered I did it. I go in for BBL 3 times a year. I have a very low maintance cut. I can go 3-4 months in between cuts. Mani/pedi I tend not to do. If I do, I only get color on my toes and ask for natural buff on my hands. I go to the gym every day but I have a lot of friends in the class I go to so it's social as well and I enjoy it
That really leaves eye brow waxing about every 6 weeks and eating healthy. |

Dress well.
Pluck eyebrows. Shave underarms (and legs in warm weather). Make-up for special occasions. I'm lucky to have pretty nails naturally. My hair just does its own thing. |
| Highlights/lowlights, occasional pedi, just started having waxing done. I wear makeup during the week, rarely on the weekends. I always do something with my hair and I try not to rely on yoga pants on the weekends since I'm an rn and get away with scrubs during the week |
|
Haircut once a month or so.
Work out frequently but I'd like to lose 15 pounds. Some moisturizer in the winter Sun screen a lot I'm a guy - the above plus good hygiene is enough for me! |
| I get my hair done weekly. Eyebrow threading. Pedicures every three weeks. Dress well. I like looking nice and my guy appreciates it as well. |
|
I get my hair done weekly.
Tan 1-2x's a week Wear enough make up to cover up my dark circles. Shave and do my eyebrows weekly. Keep my weight under 106lbs |
|
For me, the biggest thing is exercise. If I don't work out regularly, I feel and look bad.
I wear at least some makeup every day. Concealer for my hereditary dark circles; mascara; lipgloss; blush. When I'm not at work, I'm generally wearing yoga pants. I'll put on dark jeans and a cute top for going out to dinner/movie. Pedicure every month or so in the warm months. Brow wax every 4 weeks or so. Hair color every 4-6 weeks. |
|
I get my hair colored every 4-6 weeks and trimmed less frequently. I'm trying to let it grow out.
I try to go for a run 4-5 times a week. I'm a SAHM to 4. If I go somewhere besides the park, I try to put on a cute dress and do make up, even if my hair is just in a cute ponytail. If we're hanging out at home or the park, it's leggings or yoga pants and a tee or sweater. I do my own nails while DH and I watch tv after the kids go to bed. I feel naked if my nails aren't done. I shave everything at least every other day because I wear a lot of skirts. I like soft, smooth skin. I'm not really as regular about lotion as I should be, but I use it when I remember. |
| It's a choice to care about these things, OP. There's no rule saying that people NEED to remove facial hair and get manicures. It's a choice you're making, so stop complaining? |
|
I exercise and stay in shape. Run, lift weights & yoga, 4-5 days a week.
Wear makeup every day. I like red lips which goes well with my black hair and pale skin. Go to hairdresser every three weeks for color and trim. My hair grows really fast and I hate grey roots! |
| When you say you get your hair done every week - do you mean color? |

General Health/weight: eat healthy and exercise most days
Skin Care: wash face, use moisturizer when skin feels dry Hair: get it cut a few times a year, brush daily, very occasionally put in ponytail or style in some way Clothes: Wear clothes daily Hair Removal: Shave underarms when needed. Legs when it's too hot for pants. Nails: Paint myself when I feel like it. Usually they are half painted. Make up: Wear it when I feel like it... maybe once a week. |
| How do you people have time for all this upkeep? I work FT and hardly have time for a pedicure, highlights and a haircut every 3 months. |
I don't understand. what do you do with your time? You prioritize what you find most important. It's like someone saying they don't have time to exercise, read, or cook from scratch. If it's important, they find a way. |
