please help- bad daycare

Anonymous
We recently enrolled our children at a daycare/preschool (less than a week ago). I don't want to get into any details to identify the place, but it is not a place we can continue to take our kids. The teachers yell constantly, even at the young toddlers. My older child also complained that she saw a teacher aggressively manhandle a child. We have seen some of this behavior with our own eyes in the short time we have had our kids enrolled here. It wasn't apparent when we did our initial tours and familiarity visits. The place requires a deposit of two weeks. I find it difficult to leave my kids there because the youngest one trembles when she sees the building and melts down. What are our options? Are we stuck paying the deposit? I want to get into a new place and it will be difficult losing the deposit, but I don't believe my kids are safe there.

You need to call the authorities.

Tell them to release your deposit or you will cal the news and do an expose on them.

If you don't feel safe, what's the question? About losing your money? That sucks, but you do what you got to do.

Yes, we are prepared to lose the deposit. But, my question is if anyone has any advice about how to go about withdrawing and not lose the deposit.

Please call the relevant Child Protective Services office for where the center is located and make a report.

I would demand my deposit back and list the reasons above. Threaten to go to licensing if the daycare is not cooperative. Then, once you have your deposit, call licensing and tell them exactly what happened.

This. At least attempt to get your money back. But don't send your kids back.

Agree. It will be uncomfortable most definitely, but you need to really take a stand.

ummm. you should called authorities whether you get your money back or not.

After you have withdraw, it would be good to identify the school here so that others don't send their kids there.

Your concern of losing the money is silly. You would lose it even if they stayed there so withdraw the children and lose the money.

I would recommend that you see if your checks have cleared - if they have not, put a stop payment on them.

I they have cleared, I would schedule a meeting in person tomorrow morning with the director and say that it is not working out and you need to withdraw and you are requesting your deposit back.

If the director refuses, continue .... my observations are that the staff is aggressive with the children. My children breakdown when we approach the building. Clearly it is not a good fir for our family. We would like out deposit back and think it is best that we do not continue here.

If the director refuses, escalate. I observed _____ on ______ grapping a child such that the child ________. I would prefer not to report this to ________.

If it is "JUST" yelling - it is how things are.

If it is a bad fit, sometimes you can get around the notice. Tell them when your last day is in writing.

Talk to the director. If she insists on a deposits, escalate to the regional director, if there is one.

All of this ??.
Please share the name of the place so other families don't have to go through this.
