But Harry loved going to Africa with all his rich white girlfriends! He’s an expert on Africa! |
Joke and Woke is very good but my favorite to date is Ginge and Cringe |
I'm embarrassed that I know this, but the estimates I've seen are in the $20ish million range. That's a nice sum of money, but not enough to buy and maintain a $12 million house over the long haul. If they had paid in cash, they'd have around $10 million to live on, which would throw off around $400k in interest, at best. Maintaining the gardens alone at that place will be a drain. Plus, they're allegedly paying for their own security and paying the British people back a couple of million for the renovation of Frogmore House. That's before you start paying publicists, personal assistants, etc., much less flying private and buying a designer wardrobe. They're very young -- their money has to last them a loooong time. I'm sure they'll inherit something from Charles when he goes, but my understanding is that the bulk of his wealth goes by law to William (English inheritance laws have always favored primogeniture and keeping big estates together). So, assuming they got a mortgage, they've still got their capital, but now they have a fairly huge mortgage. They're either getting a massive subsidy from Charles, or they're going to need to get paying jobs very quickly. |
Forbes had an interesting article about how these huge homes are financed. They don’t get regular mortgages like us chumps. They get a much better deal. https://www.forbes.com/sites/megangorman/2020/08/14/what-prince-harry-and-meghan-markles-home-purchase-shows-us-about-financial-planning-for-the-wealthy/ |
I think it's this. I mean, the Royal Family may be pissed off at them, but Harry is still the Queen's grandson. They don't need the scandal of "impoverishing" him or putting his security at risk. |
^^ I agree - they don’t want to cut him off and give rise to a potential scandal nor does the RF want to forget shut the door on PH returning, with or without Meghan. |
Royal family is bland without Harry. He is not the heir to the throne so he has a right to live his own life. William doesn't want to be in the press any more than what he is now. He also doesn't want his kids to be exposed to the media. So that leaves us with Charles and the Queen. My guess is that once she is gone people will be more critical of the royal family. |
Both are pretty good. Had never heard either. Good stuff. |
I have to agree that buying such a lavish and expensive house, while at the same preaching social justice and other causes, is hypocritical. Not even close. Who is advising them? They should have stuck to the 5m range. They aren't (yet) in the league of Oprah and similar. Soooo weird. You need to build up.
I now don't get their "brand" at all. |
Its because they mostly make it up as they go along - all enthusiasm and no brains. It won't end well. |
Do you think H & M will get invites from the queen to spend some time in the summer at Balmoral each summer?
Will they still get the Christmas at Sandringham invites? Will they even attend if invited? |
NO, no and no. ![]() |
Yes, yes, and no. Royal family will play nice for the cameras which includes continuing to invite them. Notice they all publicly wished Meghan a happy birthday. But if they were willing to do a church pap stroll with William’s jump off I’m sure they can handle potentially being on the same palatial grounds at the same time. Plus Charles is financially supporting them And will be on the throne at some point who gives Someone millions of dollars but not a social invite? They won’t go because with the exception of Charles I doubt anyone wants to see them. |
Doesn't matter. They still owe approx. half their net worth, just for the mortgage. |
