DA soccer terminating boys and girls? “Rumors”

What is going on with FCV. I hear that there is little chance of them getting an ECNL offer.

Because parents don’t yet know what their club is doing?

The parents don't know what they're doing because FCV doesn't know what they're doing.

Some of you believed that the DA was to big to fail? Strike One
Some of you believe that FCV held a special place? Strike Two
Some of you believe that FCV had a plan? Strike Three

Let me shed some light.

You are a paying customer. The Club does not want to lose you. Without customers the Club doesn't exist. There is no social welfare for soccer clubs. They are attempting to manage their customers with the amount of information that is leaked.

Them telling you they didn't know this was going to happen is a sales pitch. They knew it was coming. If not, they were incompetent.
Them telling you they have a plan without announcing it is sales pitch #2. it means they're scrambling to survive.

MLS told USSF for years they were dropping out and forming there own league.

MLS announcing on the same day as the DA announcement was orchestrated and not a reaction to the news.

There is no plans for MLS to run a girls academy. If they did (or do), it wont be for anyone but the oldest age groups.

If FCV was offered an ECNL spot they would have taken it.

I think this hits a lot of true statements pretty well, but some extra emphasis on the last line. If FCV was offered an ECNL spot, they absolutely would have taken it. And if they even took time to "think" about it, they don't know what they're doing.

Devil's advocate here - Since FCV was "removed" from NPL (aka ECNL RL) a few months ago, how could they be accepted into ECNL? I'm really curious since it seems ironic that they chose to leave a pathway to ECNL on the table right before DA imploded...

Is EDP the only other viable option for FCV?

What about MU? What will they do?

I think you can also add the fact that CZ sold to the STJ - almost exactly a year ago - possibly indicates that he may have had some doubts about the viability of the DA and the long term prospects of the club.

Yeah, a parent was on earlier and said they had been told they were rejected. My guess is that with 4 NOVA ECNL clubs that one or more of them blocked adding a 5th.

Heard Arlington told they have to bring both boys and girls if they want ECNL. They don’t want to bring boys. Guess they will sacrifice girls so boys can play in yet another league that will fail in 3 years.

On the boys side, I would think that ECNL would be where it is at for the area as they would feed into the Loudoun United/DC united MLS club. They would be plucked and entered into their academy. EDP? Not so sure unless EDP is trying to change into the elite league for the area.

My guess is that ECNL Regional and ECNL are completely different. I can't imagine that the big wigs at ECNL are communicating at all with teams like Vienna, CYA, Stafford... I bet ECNL regional teams have their own thing going. And this is just speculation but I'm guessing FCV was kicked out of the regional league because they were not treating it the same way as the other teams. Especially at the younger ages where all the teams have their top team playing FCV would have a team from a younger age group playing. It's kind of a slap in the face to everyone else. They are saying they are so good they play their younger teams against your top team. I bet ECNL Regional said to cut it out and they said we will just go to NCSL because McLean and BRYC are doing it over there!

ECNL would be crazy to not let FCV in. Especially in the 4 older age groups the FCV teams will be competing for the #1 spot every year.

Yep Arlington really does not put the same importance on the girls side. Think Arlington is toast. Mclean will be very happy. It will be rough for any girls living close in. Though ECNL is not really concerned about accessibility or urban participation.

STJFCV currently crunching numbers to see if they should even keep the club around. With no ECNL, means customers fleeing to other clubs. They will take a big hit. They better get into the 5-11yr old development game real quick.

Crazy? FCV is nothing without their player pool. Their player pool will disperse and be adsorbed by surrounding ECNL teams.

See how that works? They don't take FCV. They will take FCV players. Karma for what they did to Loudoun I guess.

Why do they need to both come in? Bethesda's boys are not in. VDA's did not until recently. It's a reflection of both the ECNL's arrogance to demand both and the relative weakness of the boys side. Just more nonsense if true. Who needs that crap.

Boys ECNL is not to the level of the girls. If they can force Arlington to bring their boys that would certainly improve it. In the past they did not have the leverage that they have now. Is it for certain that Bethesda boys are not joining ECNL? Does anyone know what their plans are?
