Generally, uniforms, signs, etc, are replaced on a revolving calendar-and, as needed. However, when you have to replace everything at once, it is very expensive-like a new school.

Turf fields, scoreboards, uniforms and sports equipment, and signs, signs, and more signs. Painting, etc.

There are lots of signs in schools that use the school name. Football uniforms are very expensive--and remember, each kid needs two jerseys. This is true for pretty much all the sports. Wrestling mats, etc. Those marquee signs do not come cheap and neither do scoreboards. This does not take into consideration all the man hours to design and change logos, stationary, transcripts, etc. Books need to be restamped--so there will be a large purchase of things like rubber stamps--those are not cheap either. Not only that, but someone has to perform the labor.
There will also be additional administrative needs with transcripts, etc. On and on and on.

There are also a couple of street signs on Rt. 7 that will either need to be changed or removed. Both activities cost money.
And there are probably other places in the community where the name has to be changed as well. It's not just jersey's and band uniforms.

I know it sounds trivial right? But both Fairfax county and VDOT have to be involved. Even if the signs are simply removed, I have no doubt that iit will be a six figure cost

This is not yet funded by FCPS--what are they going to eliminate from the approved budget to pay for it? Is that legal?

Where is the money going to come from?

It will come from a $2.75 billion budget. If we can afford AAP, TJ, and freshman and JV lacrosse, we can afford to undo decades of institutional racism crammed down the throats of minority kids.

There are some things that don't get decided by a majority vote, but the majority of the School Board approved this change, and rightly so.

So put a lid on it, unless you want to be lumped in with the other old white losers in their 60s who show up and cry at School Board meetings (literally) about losing their Confederate names.

Oh, please. Go on with your stereotypes. You are leaving out the young African American alum who is an officer in the US ARMY. You know --the "keeper"? Do you consider him a "loser"? How about the other minorities--Indian, Asian, etc, who wanted to keep the name? The kids who had others speak for them because they were bullied for their stance on keeping the name? The people who were concerned about the expense?

They can't even crack $15,000? That's just pathetic. I can understand why having Cohen's and Moore's hypocrisy and lack of financial support called out bothers you so much.

What bothers me is keepers who whine about the cost and put so much energy into blasting a change that is now a done deal. And there's no "calling out" of the celebrity alumni--you have no way to know whether they've donated or not. It's also almost amusing how the people crying about cost seem to think donations should already be huge when it's just a few weeks since the decision. It's as if they think the dollars should have rolled in overnight. If they're that worried about the cost they should get behind a campaign to publicize the opportunity to donate. But no, it's easier for them just to complain.

The Changers claimed money would pour in and cover large portions of the expense. And if Cohen and Moore have already donated, they are cheap because they are extremely rich and the total donations so far are paltry.

And we might not get to deduct SALT. County budget season will be vocal. I want IB gone. Boundary changes wherever possible to avoid construction. Any don't like it? Special tax district also for some areas with amenities.
