I think Meri is an imperfect victim of a culture that does not treat women well. She grew up believing that her worth was tied up in her being a wife and a mother. And then she struggled greatly with both roles. Not only did she struggle with infertility, she had to do it while her husband had babies with his other wives. On here we regularly here women struggling with infertility feeling agony hearing friends announce their pregnancies, Meri had to hear her literal competition do it after being told that childbearing was essentially her primary role in life her whole life.

He started marrying other women after years of her struggling to get pregnant.

She was absolutely by all accounts mean verging on abusive to the other wives and children. But IMO she was more like a caged wounded animal lashing out than a cruel person.

Clearly somewhere in the aftermath of catfish-gate Meri got serious about finding her own path. And she has kind of transformed as a person. In my opinion at least. She seems genuinely happy in the last 3-4 years in a way she never really did before. Kody failed all of them, mormonism failed all of them, polygamy failed all of them. It is hard to look back and judge these women in a terrible situation for being imperfect people. They couldn't see out of their own predicament. The show has been the best thing for them, it has brought them into the world outside of their church, and shown them that there are other paths.

I agree with this. I think Meri and Christine have both grown in a good way. They are the two I would most want to hang out with. I used to like Janelle but now I think she's just so out to lunch with the trailer and sticking around to watch Kody be an idiot. And Robyn...while I'm sure she is probably the nicest of them all, she is so needy.

Janelle is stuck in a fat girl mindset. Even though she has lost weight it's really hard to shed that mindset. It makes you feel less than and feel like you deserve less and once you do that for many years it's hard to let go. She will eventually move on but it will take her longer.

Apparently Janelle HAS moved on. Her daughter Gwendolyn said during a Q&A on her Patreon.

I watched all three of the Gwendlyn videos. I don't think its super clear TBH. The fact that they didn't sit next to each other at Logan's wedding though is a much larger red flag IMO.

I think when Meri could not have kids he had Janelle join and she was fine with being wife number two because she gave him so many kids. So there is the resentment between the two because even if meri was wife #1 she failed in the family’s eyes and janelle was superior. Janelle’s mom married Jody’s dad, right? There is something weird there. And it seems like they added Christine to more or less Nanny Janelle’s kids. She is always saying she helped raise them. So she had a bunch more kids but all these kids are just around to feed his massive ego. I don’t think he ever loved Christine he just wanted her to balance out the two crazy women and watch the kids. I feel so bad for her because she had a BABY truly was so little when Robyn came around - how the f can you watch a husband fall in love and marry someone else when you have his children AND just birthed another of his babies- and there he is with some super sweet nice young thing and he goes and ADOPTS her kids from another man and still tears her and her kids like “the help”. Christine totally got treated like crap and good for her that she is leaving.

Agree and I also think he overcompensates with Robyn's kids because they are adopted. He makes zero to minimal effort to see the kids he has with three other wives yet he clearly favors the two youngest and gives Robyn's older kids whatever they want. He forced Janelle's youngest sons to move out when they weren't following his COVID rules yet Robyn's older kids may just live with them forever. Why in the world they need the COVID nanny is beyond me--she can't depend on the older girls for help when they are all stuck at home? Ridiculous!

Kody could not possibly make it any clearer that he does not love any wife except Robyn. Christine had no other choice IMO--Meri and Janelle need to wake up! How you can stay with a man who has clearly rejected your children the way Kody has is beyond me and both Meri and Janelle are guilty of this. She hates herself and everyone around her and doesn't know how to start to get out of the terrible hole she has dug for herself.

Meri's family is also polygamous, so if she left she'd lose all her family. Her polygamous extended family would likely cut her off. I think her sister wives and their kids would also cut all ties. She'd really be on her own.

It's different for Christine. The kids and Janelle still love and support her, even post divorce. And her mother left polygamy so she still has that support.

Another one bites the dust. Janelle and Kody are separated. I guess now Kody and Robyn get what they want. They can call themselves polygamists (because of Meri) while ignoring her and actually being monogamous.
