Meri’s face when Kody was calling her said it all—she clearly knew something was wrong. I think the situation was handled well overall. Suicide shouldn’t be a taboo subject, and I was honestly surprised that Janelle was open enough to share that Garrison had been struggling with alcohol.

I’m not a Kody fan, but you could tell he was really struggling and blaming himself. Robyn seemed nervous and hesitant in the on-camera interviews, like she realized she had contributed to the tension between Kody and the older boys. You can tell the three OG wives really loved Garrison. Robyn, for once, did not have any big emotions. She mostly talked about how she was supporting with Kody in his grief.

Robyn tries to say the right things but her words and her actions are not aligned so it always comes off as insincere whether she's talking about Meri, wanting sisterwives, wanting Kody to have good relationships with all his kids, etc.

Oh, and maybe this is an unpopular opinion, you can really have too many kids. It really bothers me when people defend people or celebrities (like Alec Baldwin) having so many kids just because 'they can afford it.' Financial resources aren’t the only thing children need. Kids require time, emotional presence, and real connection from their parents—not just nannies or hired help. No matter how much money someone has, there’s only so much time and energy a parent can give, and spreading that thin across a large number of children can affect their well-being in ways money can’t fix.

All of the adults are such abysmal parents. I know the Redditors love to blame Robyn exclusively for the downfall of the family (as if Kody didn't have a hand) but come on. What kind of parent turns their child's suicide into "A Very Special Episode"?

A- MEN! They are grifters of the highest variety. They support MLMs that enrich them at the expense of the fools on their downline. Janell sells Plexus which does the same and makes health promises that aren’t true and possibly harmful. Their son killed himself but none of them were smart enough or emotionally intelligent enough or risk their cash cow to think that maybe, just maybe this circus contributed to that - nope - keep ‘a filming and filling our pockets.

Not a one has said “now is my chance to get properly educated and have something real.”
Just keep grifting. Janelle with no farming experience or knowledge is like “I’m gonna make a farm”.

I mean, I wish them well. Honestly, once you're reality TV famous can you even get a real job? It might be time for Janelle to just live with her kids. Or try to live off of her savings.

I started watching their show when I was a young mom thinking about how messed up our society is about families in general and how parents don't get the support they need. They seemed like a nice family working together.

The show certainly was an object lesson in why polygamy is a landmine. Which, honestly, fits with my experience. I know two families well who had one husband and two wives and both exploded in singularly spectacular fashion.

MLMs are very big with LDS and the AUB (the more-liberal-than-FLDS-but-still-a-polygamous-cult) which is where the Sister Wives sprang from. It's of the few ways women are encouraged to work from home. I haven't kept up with the show outside of articles here and there for a long time, but I don't see the original wives as grifters. Robyn, yes. The originals were trying to gain acceptance in mainstream culture and stumbled into a way out they didn't even know they needed or wanted. I think with the very limited skills and educations they had, they have done the best the could for their kids. Not trying to legitimize the AUB or any of that, just providing some context for my opinion.

Same, Christine in particular has so many rabid supporters and I'm like...huh? Are we watching the same show? With the same Christine who allowed her children to be neglected for years, never got health insurance for her children when one had scoliosis (she would've qualified for Medicaid), made a said child with scoliosis wait until 17 to have surgery because she didn't want there to be a scar, went to a cake tasting while her toddler was in the beginning stages of kidney failure, constantly brought up the fact that Meri couldn't have children, allowed her children to skip school, said "Aww, that means he likes you!" when her son hit his younger step-sister, and filed for bankruptcy while filming a reality show that she knew she would get paid for? That Christine seems like a good person to you?
