Thanks Landon dad

I mean, that’s not wrong right now. Too bad they don’t play Spalding. That would settle it. That team is insane.

I think it was stated in the context of the IAC. But agree.

UVA’s been playing club ball this year. Not sure they even get a berth right now unless something changes.

What is club ball?

Lack of discipline, individual over team etc., playing like you’re at a showcase instead of tough but competent play with good ball movement and well executed clears, for example. At least that’s how I’ve seen it described.

Correct. In the case of PVI and Bullis and this years GP , they have a very large contingent of club players from the same team and the same class. They think their summer success playing crap club teams where one kid dodges and redodges for 10+ seconds will win against a more organized and prepared team.

Yeah I got that. Meant that the only rival for Landon in the IAC right now is Bullis, who got beat up by that Spalding machine. Would be interesting to see how Landon matched up with that. I suspect they’d lose, too, but perhaps not as badly.

Landon would definitely lose. Spalding could be the best team in the country.

Agree 100%. Saw them play twice. They play like a tight D1 team in terms of technical competence and execution.

Landon has a lot of raw talent but seems to lack vision and an understanding of how to move as a team, especially on the offensive end.

Any update on STA Benjamin?

They graduated a great senior class last year. To be sitting with one loss to Haverford right now isn't a bad place to be.

League overall seems very down from the late 2010s and even a few years ago.

It’s a 6 team league and 1 has been in the top 10, another in the top 20 and a third is hm since 2020. Landon just went down and beat 2 of the 3 best in the entire south by 7 and 5 in a no shot clock game where the other teams played entirely zone. Take out the high school holdback factories and the IAC is fine along with the WCAC.

No chance Robinson or Langley beats PVI in a regular season game.

Neutral Rankings:

1. Landon: The Bears are playing at high level and look dramatically better from the opening week. They will beat you with their athleticism and discipline. Goalie play and face-off play have been terrific.

2. SJC: The Cadets are almost through their gauntlet of a schedule. Cadets lack a true offensive QB but overall look improved from week one. These guys scrap hard in between the lines.

3. Bullis: On paper the Bulldogs have the most individual talent on this list. Offense looks out of sync. Still have plenty of time to figure it out before IAC league play kicks in .

4. Gonzaga: The Eagles always play hard and are well coached. Not as deep as in previous seasons but don't count them out.

5. Georgetown Prep: Not sold on the 4 and 5 stars on their roster. Lil Hoyas are a collection of individual talent.

6. Episcopal: Solid win over a competitive PVI squad yesterday which bolds well for VISAA standings. The Maroon might make some noise this season in the IAC>

7. Ryken: The Knights are having their best season in recent memory.

8. DeMatha: Despite the 3-3 record, two of their losses game in OT. The Stags are athletic and have the best attackman in the WCAC.

9. The Heights: The Cavs sit at 6-0 but haven't played a challenging schedule. Regardless, they are undefeated

10. Paul VI: The Panthers are too athletic to be losing to Episcopal. They have some nice individual pieces but need to play better as a team.

Overall commentary, Landon and SJC are interchangeable. The Bears are a tough out for anyone given they two very good fogos at the face-off X. I'd give the Bears a slight edge over the Cadets as I believe they have a deeper bench.

I contemplated putting GZ ahead of Bullis as they played Culver extremely tight. The way Bullis got man handled against Spalding is a bit concerning. Bullis vs Gonzaga this Friday night will be the game of the week.

Prep needs to turn their season around and FAST. The Hoyas are down in Richmond today against St Christophers and they square off vs NJ powerhouse Don Bosco Prep. Prep has too much individual talent on their roster to be losing the way they are.

Haven't seen all these teams but from what I've seen on live streams...

Neutral Rankings:

1. Landon: The Bears are playing at high level and look dramatically better from the opening week. They will beat you with their athleticism and discipline. Goalie play and face-off play have been terrific.

Landon definitely plays a deeper bench, upperclassmen are more consistent, and they have the better fogo over SJC but had to come back to beat Gilman by 1 in the only common opponent where SJC beat Gilman going away.

2. SJC: The Cadets are almost through their gauntlet of a schedule. Cadets lack a true offensive QB but overall look improved from week one. These guys scrap hard in between the lines.

Cadets have made changes and getting goals out of 2 Sophmores which helps depth. Still struggles vs Elite fogos but to be 2-3 with that Non Conference schedule and (2)1 goal losses in which they were up by a couple until the 2 min full time collapse in both. Cadets have the better goalie and could very well be 4-1.

3. Bullis: On paper the Bulldogs have the most individual talent on this list. Offense looks out of sync. Still have plenty of time to figure it out before IAC league play kicks in .

Bullis has the best roster and paper for sure but just need to figure out the team chemistry. The Spalding game was disappointing. Not that they lost but how bad they got worked. All fixable and expect them to be playing for an IAC chip this spring.

4. Gonzaga: The Eagles always play hard and are well coached. Not as deep as in previous seasons but don't count them out.

Gonzaga is alot better than people expected. Still have a really good fogo and solid goalie. Coaching may be the best in Conference. They punched Culver in the mouth early but didn't have enough to compete for 4 qtrs.

5. Georgetown Prep: Not sold on the 4 and 5 stars on their roster. Lil Hoyas are a collection of individual talent.

Hero ball. Not enough depth.

New coach issues. Still figuring it out. Goalie keeping them in games.

I think this game would be worth the price of admission!
