Wizards and Caps could be moving to Potomac Yard

How you can’t build a NBA , NHL juggernaut in DC with no teams in Maryland and Virginia shows you are a loser. It’s probably the most massive concentrated uncovered market by one team in each sport in the country. Leonsis is a fatter, sloppier version of Snyder.

I am guessing you haven't seen Ted in a while.

They do, at least in theory. That’s Nina Albert, the new DC deputy mayor for planning & economic development (DMPED). She joined from the GSA where her decision to overrule a selection panel and choose Greenbelt as the FBI HQ site has drawn a lot of scrutiny. She previously handled real estate for Metro, which as it turns out owns much of the Greenbelt site, so there are conflict of interest questions. It’s likely that Ms Albert is distracted in her new job by congressional inquiries into her last one.

This is a good reason for term limits in DC. She didn't have the vigor or gumption for a third term. A new mayor would've been more hungry for success and making their mark on the city.

PS - I still think USAO is purposely sandbagging the city and letting criminals run free to basically ruin the District for political reasons.

Bowser’s former economic development chief also got caught with his pants down.

Yep … a marketing spaz. If you have a team in DC you name it the

“Chesapeake Swamp “

Covers the whole mid Atlantic with a nod to DC

It’s like they can’t even see the opportunities.

Youngkin wasn't going to let stupid "issues" like affordable housing and mass transit stop this thing from happening. He smartly located this on the Alexandria side of National Landing so the stupid missing middle housing and reform prosecution in Arilngton won't derail this. To their credit Arlington Police are ruby-red in their politics, but you can't take a chance on trying to work with the People's Republic.

No, this isn’t going to help Mr. Religious Nutter. It’s going to be a huge mess. And he was toast as soon as he started with his attack on women.

Sorry but no. It’s another brilliant move by Youngkin. And BTW all the women I know who live in NOVA think he’s great.

Maybe they think the fleece vest look is cute and for them it Trumps Youngkin’s view of reproductive freedom?

He's not local. He's from Georgia.

Sometimes it’s hard to believe how stupid some of you are. He’s a local treasure. That has nothing to do with where he was born.

Learn what local means, moron.

He's still not local. One day you might learn what that word means, fool.

He's lived here since at least 1974! https://www.linkedin.com/in/tom-sherwood-1a1bb841/

According to the rules of DCUM, he is not local. He had to experience his formative years in the local high schools.

You mean he can write well, so that rules out a DCPS education.

I can say based on texts with people in my friend groups that none of us in DC or MD would go to any games in the future.

I agree 100%. As a frequent attendee at Caps games, I certainly would attend fewer games if the games were held in PY. The current location is highly convenient for me, whether I drive or take Metro. The idea of attending a weekday game at PY has zero appeal.

Don't worry, there'll be plenty of fans in Virginia that'll take your place. It might surprise you to know sports franchises don't care who buys the ticket.

but there won't be

Alexandria is a horrific location for the vast majority of the population

You alienate Moco, Howard co, PG county and most of NW DC. All of them are key players for season tickets/suites.

It will be GREAT for fans traveling to see the visiting team play given its location to DCA..just what Leonsis wants

And they will probably fly into IAD.

You take that back! DC has the bestest schools.

A lot of the activists are just really effin stupid and spent the pandemic in a social media circle jerk.

A disproportionate number may be Incels.

You need to recall council. They co trol budget approval and they alll have their head in the sand about crime. Charles Allen ran unopposed. Nadeau is useless.

These type of things are riddled with mines.

It opens up the bulk of the Baltimore - Washington statistical metropolitan area population above the Potomac River open to additional franchises. In Laurel say… the Chesapeake Bullets or FEDs ( lol) and Chesapeake Swamp will probably be more valuable than the wizards and capitals. The new Md Gov is probably rubbing his hands together

If people want to go to a game they will go, it doesn’t matter if it’s in va. Hockey fans are raving and it seems like most come from southern Maryland already.
