It’s very sad that a child was killed but I can’t blame the man defending himself during a carjacking. Carjacking is really dangerous. I’m sure he didn’t shoot the kid over the car.

Any carjacking comes with the threat of murder. That's why they're almost always successful and why self-defense is justified. You're not protecting property. You're protecting your life from someone who has shown it has zero value to them.
