Seriously. I wonder what part of CA they are in? Husband is native SoCal and his entire family is still there, and no one is moving TO SoCal. Sacramento area and San Diego area, maybe, but they aren't people moving back after going to red states, they are people leaving SF and LA for more politically diverse areas and less crowded and crime ridden areas, rife with homeless and needles on the sidewalks, but wanting to stay in state to be close to family.

Bay Area. It’s a bit annoying like I said. I liked the reduced traffic and reduced rents. It felt calmer after years of too much expansion. But everything is skyrocketing again now. Jobs are back in person. People are moving back. I’m hearing the insane stories about rent again. Sigh.

I believe nobody is moving to SoCal. There aren’t jobs or water there.

Also, FYI because you seem a bit confused, SF is not at all the same thing as the Bay Area. I wouldn’t move to SF myself and I grew up there. But red state and conservative media generally assume the Tenderloin is the same thing as the state of California.

Personally I kind of liked the conservative story about the Tenderloin or Skid Row being the same as all of California because it kept people away. But those days seem to be ending unfortunately.

The increase in traffic is like you said, people going back to the office. I didn't mention the Bay Area, just SF as I know they had a lot leave during the pandemic and are probably returning to go back to in office work. The people and family I know from that area love it, but COL and quality of life is better for them in the Sacramento area, and the area is full of those who left SF. Several of husband's family relocated to Sacramento area, and others are considering it, but they are from SoCal so it would be a really big adjustment and other family will still be down there. If you are seeing a big increase again, it is probably those who left during the pandemic returning. I have not seen any data reporting an increase in population., especially from other states.

Also, I am not confused about the Tenderloin area. Recent visit was probably my last for a while. My SIL is in an upscale LA County area and has homeless bathing in the water fountains and needles on the sidewalk, strung out homeless entering into businesses and harrassing employees, etc. I lived there for a decade and go back often and have never seen anything like it is now. It is not confined to the poor areas or skid row.

"San Francisco's population has fallen 6.3 percent during the pandemic–– the most of any U.S. city, according to the latest census data. The Bay City lost 54,813 people between July 2020 and 2021 as residents bailed out for remote work, the San Francisco Chronicle reported."

Your states *will* and already are losing revenue as will companies based in your states, and that's entirely the fault of you pro-lifers.

How do you explain the mass exodus from CA, NY, IL, etc. to FL and TX?

How do you explain today’s news about employment rates in Red states outshining Blue states post-covid?

Btw, I’m a Dem. But I read all the news and I don’t cherry-pick stats to support my thinking. Rather, I strive to step back to see the bigger picture and connect the dots.

You should try it. Everyone should…especially our Dem leaders who should be working 24/7 on capitalizing on this moment to win midterms.

Uhhh what? People aren't leaving blue states because they are upset about abortions. And Texas has an unemployment rate of 4.2%, worse than the national unemployment rate of 3.6%.

And here you claim you see the bigger picture and connect the dots? Sure, whatever, fake person pretending to be informed and pretending to be a Dem. Whatever.

Dems and moderates along with R’s are flooding into red states. It has nothing to do with abortion; it is a general reaction to taxes and liberal policies. It’s been well-documented in the last year.

And the new employment data prompted the comment about red states. I didn’t specifically refer to TX, and neither did the headlines I saw. They just said red states.

Point being: this is all happening, and it’s well-document. It’s not an opinion, it’s a fact.

I just don’t see anyone moving because of SC decision. I don’t think anyone living in TX or AL is surprised. They’ve been living with restricted access for years. Pretty sure they know how to navigate this.

The hypocrites go to a blue state where women's rights are protected and get the health care needed, obviously.

Then get sued by the vigilantes.

What a great situation.

+1 to all of the above. It is indeed a documented fact that people are leaving blue states in droves and pouring into red states. I think some here simply don't like to acknowledge that truth.

Poll after poll shows that this is not the issue to most people you want it to be. It's just not.

It is. Many products and services will suffer the date of my pillow if they don't push back against this insanity. People are very very angry.

+1

VERY angry.

Barely more than half oppose the SC decision, and less than half strongly oppose it. Only a slim margin of I's oppose and most R's agree. This was right after the decision. It will fade as an issue except for people who were already going to vote D anyway.

"By a 56%-to-40% margin, respondents oppose the court's decision, including 45% who strongly oppose it.

Almost 9-in-10 Democrats and a slim majority of independents (53%) are against the decision. Three-quarters of Republicans, on the other hand, support it."

Better hope that enough to support all these companies, colleges and other institutions because many of us are moving on to places and companies with more respect for women's rights.

Your individual anecdotal decision does not mean the majority of people agree with you. For most people, life goes on. Many of these states already had pretty restrictive abortion laws and were doing just fine. Polls show it is just not a top priority for most.

That is because people have their head in the sand. Once the impact starts to prevent more and more people from accessing healthcare and from enjoying healthy sex lives, people will realize all they have lost.

My lawyer and doctor friends say it's already a sh"tshow.

You don't think you can have a healthy sex life without being able to have an abortion?

+1. Imagine. There are consequences to having unbridled, carefree sex, which seems to shock some posters here.

I am absolutely moving if the VA GOP/Youngkin attack women’s rights.

And the SCOTUS decision just came out. It takes time to see a shift.

Women won’t stick around if they are oppressed.

All of my kids - sons and daughters - think that the red states are sh1t holes. They actually are so disgusted by all of this GOP insanity that they want to move abroad.

Any intelligent, decent human would stay far away from the GOP/red states.

I think moving abroad seems like a wise decision for your family.
