How dense you are to think that the list of things you rate as high priority arent IMPACTED by a womans right to an abortion. Losing control over reproductive health is a domino to increasing all of those issues. Environmental- we need a smaller population not a larger one. Schools- you think parents who dont want their kids are involved? You think poor families working 2-4 jobs have time for PTA and parent teacher conferences and other things? Opioids- wait until you see the rates when women are having to be mothers to children they dont want, hurt or disabled from pregnancy complications, etc. and POVERTY for shi& sakes... c'mon you should be able to connect why poverty is both a factor and result of lack of abortion access. |
It shouldn’t be a priority at all. It’s freaking 2022, not 1952. But the GOP thinks it’s time to take away the basic human rights of half the population. So here we are. |
The anti-abortionists would have to actually care about women and babies after they are born for that to happen. They do not, as we've seen time and again in the political agenda they promote and their demonizing of "welfare mothers." Hell, they don't even really care about things like prenatal health. Would they support payments to mothers who are forced to go on bed rest so they don't miscarry? No. Do they support environmental laws that keep pollution down, knowing that pollution is connected to higher miscarriage rates? No, they do not. They care about abstract embryos, not real human beings. |
Because the uterine-obsessed forced birthers couldn’t leave it alone. They have to control women. It’s a fetish for them. And quite frankly, the way women collectively choose to birth (or now, will not be able to do so; really - it doesn’t bother you that the GOP is clearly coming for women’s rights? That’s not a priority for your?) affects all of the things you say are of more importance to you. Population growth affects the environment. How many children and whether or not their parents wanted them and can afford to put time, money and energy into them affect schools. You think the misery caused by unwanted children and abuse and neglect doesn’t feed opioid addiction? You think women being forced to bear children they can’t afford and can’t care for doesn’t worsen poverty? All your pet issues are inextricably linked to women’s rights. And all your pet issues are about to blow up. |
Exactly. People forcing themselves onto women are no better than rapists. |
F them. Why should anyone care what those amoral POSs think? They aren’t engaged in good faith. They are willing to lie, cheat, and steal to force themselves onto everyone else. Nope. |
They don’t even care about embryos. They just hate women. |
I’m obviously many pages behind, so don’t know whether this has come up, but while people are planning next steps, please consider this a friendly reminder to do everything you can to support the Equal Rights Amendment being formally added to the Constitution. It’s stuck in legal/political limbo, and this is a pressure point where enough public outcry may actually push it the rest of the way. |
WTF is wrong with you? Why are you just giving up? People can now see the truth that you and I know. Don’t “accept” this heinous crime. |
|
This does nothing for me. Impeachment not protest. |
YUP. And also, don't forget that these are the same people who are against educating teens about birth control, offering access to birth control, and offering a safety net for the poor (welfare). If you look at the big picture of these anti-abortion lawmakers' policies, t is beyond twisted: - Deny birth control access, force women to have unwanted babies, deny prenatal care, deny welfare, oppose minimum wage increases, defund mental health care. It really makes you question, what their true motive in all this could possibly be. |
PP. Not giving up at all. I just want to state the obvious for anyone that hasn't grasped it yet--that we are moving toward being a theocracy ruled by a minority. Trust me--I will fight this with everything I have. I am in my sixties so I know just what is at stake since RvW was passed when I was in my teens. |
And we know that Roberts was pushing a compromise position that kept Roe in place. If Kav joins Roberts in a concurring then Roe stands. If Kav joins the four ultra-activists then Roe falls. The vote is 6-3 to uphold the MO ban but 4-4 on overturning Roe. Kav is the one who decides what happens. |
