Can anyone help me look? I don't know too many areas, but we are flexible about going pretty much anywhere. I know it's late but we were waiting on the other family to find out if they were moving or not, and they only just got word that they are staying.
We'd like a house that can sleep 9+ (5 bdrm, though we can make it work with 4), ocean front or at least ocean view, a pool would be awesome, and pet friendly so we can bring our lab. Under $4000 for a week. At this point, I'm willing to go anywhere from NJ to NC. We can only do the weeks of August 5, 12, or 19. I looked at Sandbridge near VA Beach and there were 2 options but both were pretty shabby looking. Not finding anything in the MD/DE beaches. Any help would be much appreciated! |
| I think waterfront for $4k a week will be shabby and outdated. I was looking for places those weeks, and there was some stuff left. |
| You can definitely find that Oceanfront at Hatteras (my mom's house is in that range with 4 BR, but near the top of your budget). the pets part will be the hardest -- there are few pet cottages and they usually rent quickly. But call around, there may still be openings. |

Under $4000 for a week will not get you ocean front pretty much anywhere. Unless maybe you're open to condos? Try looking for "semi-ocean front" which should have an ok view of the beach.
Try looking in the Outer Banks for the week of August 19th. Things sometimes get cheaper at the end of August bc schools start back up. Sandbridge is great, but it's much smaller with less inventory than the OBX. |

If you don't care about stuff to do, Kure Beach, NC is beautiful and not too expensive. |

Check Duck. Big houses, affordable, many with pools. |
| Ps sorry about those wonky links! |
| I was going to say OBX - you might be sound-side but who cares?? |
If you have little kids, you do not want sound side. It's a long walk to the beach then! |
This was my suggestion too. We rented an oceanfront townhouse sometime in June for a week in August last year. |
With little kids, I would care. That's a long walk hauling stuff and there are no public bathrooms so that's a long walk back to the house so a kid can poop. |
| Thank you so much for those suggestions!! I only have the vaguest idea of Outer Banks but it looks like there a ton more options. I hope we are able to find something. Kure looks lovely. |

Lots of options in your price range / date range. |
| the price people pay for crappy mid atlantic beach houses never fails to astound me. |
Depends on where you are. If you are on the in north part of Duck, Avon or south it is only about 1100' between sound and ocean. Soundside with little kids is great they walk out 75' and water is only up to knees. Personally I prefer OBX to the other mid atlantic beaches. Sandbridge has a pretty thin inventory. |
