| Would you assume boy or girl? |

Um...
Kai-yan I wouldn't think boy or girl so mucy as cayenne pepper, but if I had to take a guess...um, girl? |
| I would pronounce it KI-ANN (like cayenne pepper), and I would assume a boy. |
| I'd assume boy from the spelling and I'd also say it like the pepper. |
So for Cayenne, you would assume girl b/c of the spelling? |
| I would pronounce it like "kai YAN" and I would not know if it was a boy or a girl. |
|
OP here LMAO!!!!! |
+1 |
| I know someone with a boy spelled "Kaiyan" pronounced "KEYE (like "eye") - yawn". Parents are both from a different culture (neither are white US-ian and not from the same culture as the other spouse). |
+1 Awful name, btw. |
I think I have a friend who this is her son's name, it's pronounced "Geen"? It's a Chinese name? I know how to say his name when I see him, I can't remember the spelling, but I know that I didn't understand it at the time.

| Like the pepper. But, if that is not how it is pronounced, once you tell someone then they will pronounce it correctly. NBD |
| Like Ryan with a K. I don't know which gender I would assume. Looks feminine to be, but sounds masculine if pronounced the way I said. A friend just named her son Kaien, which is pronounced "Kyan," but her husband is Japanese. |
| I'd pronounce it "pretentious parents" |
