K Lottery List

Who else is lotterying for K? Here's my list -- I know they are all long shots. We live on the Hill and I'd like to avoid our zoned school if possible.

SWS
ITS
Lee
TR-Young
TR-4
LT

Am I forgetting anything??

If adding Lee, are you interested in Shining Stars or Breakthrough?

Peabody

We're pretty happy at our IB also on the Hill so this is the only school that we would considering switching to.

I don't think so. It's really important to me that the school have a solid record of administration, and I don't think Shining Stars or Breakthrough fit the bill. (Not slagging those programs, just that Lee meets my criteria and the others don't.)

Also Breakthrough is too far away and doesn't have a permanent location yet right?

I heard CHML doesn't take K lottery? Also have not heard the greatest things about it for upper grades. Similarly SSMA doesn't seem to have a great reputation for administration. Mundo Verde - we don't want bilingual.

It looks from your list that you are either at the very north end of the Hill or actually above H St NE and not actually on the Hill. Why not JO Wilson? Is that your zoned school? I think for K-2 people are happy, and increasingly so the last couple of years.

Breakthrough hopes to announce a location by the end of the month.

For next year or permanent? Are they going to be the next to cycle through the MV/CMI/DCI space?

The goal is a permanent location, but possible the school stays put for one more year.

Any other K lists out there?

It's been interesting to see Capital City's fall from grace. Ten years ago, all of the middle class parents coveted a seat there.
