This isn't a beauty or fashion remark, but since we're talking about the state dinner, did anyone else think that the plans sounded a little inelegant? Guests literally walked through the White House to a trolley bus that took them to a tent. Then were served dinner on rented tableware. I guess if I were to be invited to a state dinner, I'd be disappointed not to be seated in the gorgeous White House, but instead have the same atmosphere as I'd get at a mid-tier wedding.
