What doesn't make sense to me about ideas like this is if she were getting any kind of surgery that they might possibly expect could have a longer recovery time, it seems they would have a better cover story. Or they would've come up with something better by now. Especially for plastic surgery, it is known that things can go in a manner that's unexpected. Why would the response be this terrible

I don't know. They said she had a medical procedure. They probably didn't realize anyone would really notice much less make so much speculation about her not making a public appearance for a few weeks.
